Local Member Coordinator Hours: 14 per week Location: Hybrid – home-based, Electric Umbrella Head Office (Leavesden), and regular on-site attendance at member events Salary: £12,250 per annum (14 hours per week, £32,000 FTE) Reporting to: Membership Manager Please note: This role requires regular attendance at bi-montly evening and occasional weekend in-person events across South West Hertfordshire and surrounding areas. Applicants should live within a reasonable commuting distance of Watford. Role Purpose The Local Membership Co-ordinator is responsible for growing and nurturing our free, community-based membership across Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire and North London. This includes online programmes such as Singalong and EUTV, alongside regular in-person activities including club nights, open mic nights, and community events. This is a relationship-led role. The post-holder will be highly visible within our local community, attending events regularly, building trusted relationships with members and families, and acting as a welcoming first point of contact for new joiners. The role focuses on building strong relationships with new and existing members, school leavers and individuals signposted through local organisations. The post-holder will support new joiners to feel welcomed, confident, and connected, and will actively foster participation across the wider programme. By maintaining strong links between online and in-person activity, this role plays a vital part in reducing isolation, strengthening community, and ensuring no learning disabled person is excluded from social opportunities due to financial barriers. The role also has a key responsibility for maintaining accurate member data to support impact reporting, funding, and service development. Key Responsibilities 1. Membership Growth and Outreach ● Proactively grow free membership across Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire and North London through relationships with schools, colleges, social care providers, and community organisations. ● Develop pathways for school leavers and new community members. ● Represent the organisation at local events, networks, and partnership meetings. 2. Member Engagement and Support ● Welcome and support new members, ensuring they feel confident, informed, and included. ● Provide ongoing encouragement and guidance to help members engage regularly in activities. ● Foster connections and friendships between members across programmes. ● Support members who attend sporadically to increase confidence and consistency of participation. ● Encourage members who attend in person to engage with online provision, and vice versa. 3. Programme Delivery and Presence ● Attend and support regular in-person events including club nights, open mic nights, and community activities. ● Build trusted relationships with members through consistent, visible presence. ● Work closely with creative and delivery teams to ensure a positive, inclusive experience for all participants. ● Support the smooth running of online sessions and community activity where required. 4. Data, Monitoring, and Impact ● Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all free members, including demographics, engagement, and participation. ● Track member journeys across online and in-person activity. ● Support the collection of impact data relating to wellbeing, confidence, and social connection. ● Ensure data is recorded in line with organisational systems and data protection requirements. ● Contribute to reporting for funders, trustees, and service development. 5. Partnership and Team Working ● Work closely with the Membership Manager and Member Development Co-ordinators to support member journeys. ● Collaborate with the National Membership Co-ordinator to ensure joined-up provision. ● Contribute to team planning, reviews, and continuous improvement. ● Share learning and insight from members to inform programme development. Person Specification Essential ● Experience working with learning disabled people or vulnerable adults in community, education, or support settings. ● Ability to attend regular evening and occasional weekend events in South West Hertfordshire ● Residence within reasonable commuting distance of Watford ● Strong relationship-building and communication skills. ● Ability to engage people with warmth, empathy, and encouragement. ● Good organisational skills and attention to detail. ● Experience of maintaining accurate records and working with data systems. ● Willingness to work evenings and occasional weekends to attend events. ● Commitment to inclusion, access, and the values of the organisation. Desirable ● Experience in community development, youth work, or arts participation. ● Knowledge of local Hertfordshire networks and services. ● Experience supporting online engagement or digital communities. ● Understanding of person-centred approaches and progression pathways.
