LOCAL LAY PASTOR

We are seeking to appoint a full time Local Lay Pastor to support the mission and
ministry of churches across the Leeds South & West Methodist Circuit. The Office
of a Local Lay Pastor was launched by the Methodist Church in 2022. More

This is a new post and the person appointed will be required to:

•  Provide day-to day pastoral oversight to two or three church communities as part of the Circuit

Team and under the supervision of the Minister in pastoral charge.

•  Be a regular presence in the churches and local communities.
•

Identify and engage with activities and events which enable links between the  churches and
the wider local communities.

Local Lay Pastors are required to complete six modules at Cliff College from the Foundations: Mission
and  Ministry  pathway  programme.  Accreditation  for  prior  learning  may  be  available,  including  for
those  who  are  accredited  preachers.  All  training  will  be  undertaken  during  contracted  hours  or
recorded as time off in lieu (TOIL) and the costs will be met by the Circuit.

The appointment requires an enhanced DBS Disclosure and an occupational requirement exists for
the post-holder to be a practising Christian.

NEXT STEPS & MAIN TERMS

35 hours per week worked flexibly between Sunday and Saturday,
in  agreement  with  your  Line  Manager,  which  will  include  some
evening  working.  This  will  include  working  three  Sundays  out  of
every  four.  Actual  days,  start  and  finish  times  will  be  variable  in
accordance with the needs of the Employer. You will not usually be
expected to work on more than five days in a calendar week.
Three year fixed term contract.
Between £15.69 and £18.00 per hour, depending upon experience
and  qualifications,  with  enrolment  in  the  Circuit’s  workplace
pension scheme.
Based  at  the  Circuit  Office,  Wesley  Road  Chapel,  Armley,  Leeds,
LS12 1UL and your home address.
