Lighting Technician (Grade 5) (1678)

Can you operate stage lighting within a theatre environment? Are you keen to develop your lighting skills and experience working across our 3 theatres in Stratford-upon-Avon? Do you want to work on show specific lighting installations, programming, or follow-spotting?

We're seeking a Lighting Technician to support the Lighting Department in delivering high‑quality lighting and electrical services for RSC productions across our three Stratford‑upon‑Avon venues. The role also includes providing technical support for a variety of events and activities that take place throughout the wider RSC buildings.

Reporting to the Head of Lighting, key areas of responsibility include (please see the full job description and person specification for the comprehensive list):

  • Providing lighting related support for shows performed on any of the RSC stages.
  • Assisting with the smooth running of fit-ups, get-ins, rehearsals, performances, changeovers and get-outs on the Stratford stages.
  • Assisting with fault finding, repair and maintenance of all departmental equipment.
  • Maintenance of all RSC lighting equipment, annual servicing, fault finding, repair and testing.
  • Taking on roles as part of the show running Lighting team.

To be suitable for this role, it is essential that you have:

  • Working knowledge and understanding of stage lighting and relevant electrical and electronic systems.
  • Follow-spot operating experience.
  • Understanding of current Health & Safety legislation and procedures relevant to lighting and electrical work.
  • Ability to work independently and also as part of a team when required.

This post is offered as a full time, fixed term contract until March 2027, based in Stratford-upon-Avon, where you will work up to 48 hours per week, typically over 6 days out of 7 during Monday to Sunday.
