The College Merthyr Tydfil is recruiting for a Lecturer to teach Carpentry and Multi Skills to students in both practical and theory lessons across Level 1-2 and potentially L3 Carpentry and also Level 1 Multi Trades. This is an excellent opportunity for an innovative and inspiring Lecturer to provide learners with an outstanding learning experience and to become an integral part of a committed and dynamic team. The successful candidate will teach across all of the following areas, having an excellent knowledge of Carpentry and broader knowledge of (Painting and Decorating, Plastering and Brickwork).

You will have a higher-level qualification (Level 3 or above) in Carpentry and desirably relevant construction industry experience or teaching in these associated areas. You should have a strong commitment to high standards of classroom practice and possibly experience of teaching or working with young people.

The College offers a structured induction programme for those who are new, depending on your experience you may be paired with an experienced mentor to support you as your experience and skills strengthen.

Key person requirements

• Higher level qualification (Level 3 or above) in relevant discipline;

• Assessor Qualification (TAQA/A1 or equivalent) or commitment to work towards;

• Verifier Award (or commitment to work towards);

• Experience in multi-skills

• Proven experience in the Construction industry;

• Understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion in work and the learning environment;

• Up-to-date occupational experience

• Enhanced DBS check

• Dealing with employers in a professional capacity
