Job Description

Join Our Team at MacIntyre School – Flexible Hours That Fit Your Life (Term-Time)

Do you want a role where every day is meaningful, and the work you do truly makes a difference? At MacIntyre School in Wingrave, we support young people aged 11–19 with learning disabilities and autism, and we’re looking for compassionate, patient, and resilient Relief Learning Support Assistants to join our team on a term-time basis.

Important Commitment and Training Requirements. Please Read Carefully

This role is incredibly rewarding, but it does require a clear and reliable commitment to ensure consistency and stability for our students.

Ongoing commitment. You must be able to commit to a minimum of one shift per week during term time.
Mandatory training. Before undertaking shifts independently, all candidates must complete mandatory training.
Training commitment. This requires availability for at least three days per week during the first six weeks of joining.
Advance notice. Training dates will be provided well in advance to allow you to plan accordingly.

This training is essential to ensure you feel confident, safe, and fully prepared to support our students effectively. We ask applicants to apply only if they can fully commit to both the training and the ongoing minimum shift requirement.

Why This Role is Special

Working with our students can be challenging on some days, and their behaviours can test your patience. The rewards, however, are immense. Every breakthrough, every moment of connection, and every smile is a reminder of the difference you make. If you’re someone who is committed to seeing progress through consistency and care, this role can be truly life-changing.

What Relief Work Looks Like

Our Relief (Bank) team helps cover shifts when permanent staff are on leave or training. Here’s what makes it different:
• You choose when to work, within your agreed commitment.
• You receive the same high-quality training as permanent staff.
• A genuine pathway into permanent roles. Over 95% of our permanent staff started as Relief.
• Ongoing support and guidance from an experienced, welcoming team.

A Day in the Life

No two days are the same. You might support students to:
• Learn life skills in the kitchen.
• Take part in sensory play or music sessions.
• Work towards personal goals, building confidence and independence.

You’ll never be expected to do this alone. Full training and ongoing support are provided. Experience is not required, but reliability, patience, empathy, and a willingness to learn are essential.

Why MacIntyre?

We’re proud of our creative, supportive environment where every child’s individuality is celebrated. By committing your time and energy, you’ll see first-hand the meaningful impact you make in young lives, while still benefiting from term-time working and flexibility that fits around your life.

Please note, we are currently unable to offer sponsorship as we await further guidance from the Home Office. Applications requiring sponsorship cannot be considered at this time. We appreciate your understanding.
