About us

Our purpose is simple: to save lives at sea. 24 hours a day, every day, RNLI lifesavers are ready to launch to the rescue. RNLI crews and lifeguards have saved over 142,900 lives since 1824 but we’re more than a rescue service. We influence, supervise and educate people too.

We are seeking applications to fulfil the position of Learning Experience Designer within our award-winning Learning Experience, Technologies and Services team.

This is a key role translating a wide variety of learning needs, operational and instructional training requirements into stimulating, interactive learning content that drives learner engagement and helps the RNLI to save more lives at sea.

Your role

You will be collaborating with team members, subject matter experts and internal stakeholders to create effective and engaging learning resources. An expert in Adobe Creative Suite, you will also assist in the development and production of a wide range of high-quality multimedia learning resources to support our blended learning strategy. The scope of learning within the RNLI is broad, so projects will be extremely diverse including operational lifesaving competence, people development and health and safety.

This is a great opportunity for someone who thrives on development, has a proactive approach, and takes pride in attention to detail and delivery of a high quality and effective finished product. We are particularly future-focussed, and the role will involve researching and implementing the latest learning technologies.

About you

The successful candidate will ideally have experience working within an agency or studio environment, striking the right combination of instructional design expertise and dynamic creative talent with knowledge of the full learning cycle.

Essential:

  • Appropriate degree level qualification or equivalent experience
  • Experience within a studio environment
  • High proficiency with Adobe suite including InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere, Audition and Illustrator
  • Experience working with stakeholders to produce detailed learning resources
  • Experience working closely with subject matter experts
  • Online/digital portfolio demonstrating proven creative thinking and design
  • Experience in full learning design cycle from producing a learning needs analysis through to identifying the correct evaluation methods
  • Experience in delivering face-to-face workshop content

Desirable:

  • Maritime knowledge
  • Project management and supplier liaison experience
  • Understanding and experience of eLearning authoring tools, particularly Articulate Storyline and a working knowledge of Rise
  • HTML5/Java/CSS coding knowledge
  • Demonstrable evidence of impactful learning solutions delivering against business objectives
