About the role
The Learning & Development Manager (LDM) has responsibility for planning, organising and coordinating a wide range of learning and development activities including arranging organisational, individual and induction training for the Association’s employees, Field Trainers and volunteers. This includes the management of the delivery of accredited and non-accredited welfare training for RAF Association (the Association) volunteers in accordance with the Association Business Plan. The LDM develops responsive training initiatives to meet the needs of the organisational plan, and demonstrate through evaluation of the learning outcomes, the efficacy of current training practises and report/collate information/statistics as required.
Primary responsibilities – Volunteers
The production of a training strategy for the volunteer network and annual training plan.
Development of courses and supporting materials and delivery of high-quality accredited training through direct face-to-face delivery, online tutor-led delivery and e-learning for those involved in the delivery of the Association welfare and wellbeing work.
Act as the point of contact with the External Verifier of AIM AWARDS, and manage Centre compliance, Quality checks, Course development and administration.
Ensure relevant quality frameworks e.g. Skills for Care, Investing in Volunteers are used as a basis for learning, development and training needs analysis.
Primary responsibilities – Employees
Development of the employee learning and development strategy in line with the Association Business Plan.
Design and co-deliver engaging learning and development content which includes leadership and management training modules (to include employment law, ED&I, performance management).
Establish and develop external relationships with appropriate learning and development providers and other organisations such as CIPD, Universities and Voluntary Action Leicestershire (VAL).
Support the development of detailed business proposals for employee learning and development.
Ensure learning and development activities are integrated with organisational objectives.
General responsibilities include
Create engaging e-learning course content including using video editing when required.
Effective leadership support to the Training Administrators.
Keeping professional knowledge and expertise up to date and advise the Head of HR on developments, themes and best practice.
Manage and maintain the Learning Management Systems.
Regular reviews and updates of relevant policies and processes for employees and volunteers’ development.
About you
Educated to degree level or equivalent professional experience, you will have a recognised training qualification along with an assessor qualification. Highly proficient in IT, you will be able to design and deliver engaging training content both online and face to face. We need you have experience in managing training systems and platforms along with developing learning strategies and identifying recommendations for trends and improvements. Previous line management is highly desirable as you will leading a small but dynamic administration team. Overall, our ideal Learning and Development Manager will put our people and volunteers at the heart of everything they do and be willing to adapt to changing objectives in line with the needs of the Association and the services we deliver.
Flexibility in your working hours will be required from time to time to attend meetings and events (planned in advance) for which we offer Time Off in Lieu for those occasions where you may have longer days away to promote or deliver programmes. A driving licence is essential for this role.
