An opportunity has arisen for an experienced, creative, reflective and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our interdisciplinary team and lead the OT department.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience and interest in working in the field of Acquired Brain Injury. You will lead our team of experienced OTs, offering specialist rehabilitation.

Shaftesbury Icanho is a highly specialist, community-based brain injury rehabilitation service with its base in Stowmarket, Suffolk. The service is run by the national charity Shaftesbury, and commissioned by the local ICBs.

The interdisciplinary team (IDT) at Shaftesbury Icanho works with adults who have had an acquired brain injury, including traumatic brain injury, stroke, infection, hypoxia and tumour. The IDT is a highly skilled, warm and friendly team of Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, Clinical Psychologists, Social Worker and Rehabilitation Assistants.

Our clinical work is undertaken in a highly integrated way, with Occupational Therapy an integral and valued part of that team. We work with people in our purpose-built centre, in clients homes and in the community based on need.

This post holder will be responsible for ensuring the efficient running of the OT service in our main Stowmarket base, and in our satellite service in Bungay which operates 2 days/week.

Main duties of the job:

· To ensure that systems are in place and working effectively for the clinical and professional supervision and support of all OTs within Icanho, and have responsibility for maintaining student placements.

· To provide specialist occupational therapy (OT) assessment and interventions for rehabilitation of clients following the consequences of Acquired Brain Injury at Shaftesbury Icanho, Stowmarket, and at the Bungay satellite service as required.

· To establish good working links/network with other relevant services/universities, and to act as a highly specialist resource to the wider professional community.

· To contribute to the overall direction and development of the interdisciplinary team/service
