Salary £ 39783 per annum.

Role Purpose

To serve as the technical authority for Halo Leisure’s energy and carbon reduction infrastructure. You will be part of the team to lead the engineering strategy to decarbonise our estate, having input into the design, technical specification, and implementation of complex energy efficiency and renewable technology projects. This role balances high-level team strategic planning with hands-on engineering audits to ensure our facilities operate at peak technical efficiency.

  • Technical Engineering Strategy:Design and spearhead the technical roadmap for electricity, gas, water, and heat decarbonization across the Company.
  • Engineering Analysis & Modeling:Go beyond basic monitoring to perform advanced data analysis and thermal modeling; establishing rigorous baselines and identifying technical anomalies in plant performance.
  • Project Design & Delivery:be the lead engineer for the full lifecycle of energy engineering projects (e.g., HVAC optimization, BMS logic upgrades, Heat Pump integration, Solar PV, and battery storage) from feasibility to commissioning.
  • Asset Optimization:Conduct deep-dive technical audits of site plant (boilers, CHPs, AHUs, and pumps). Collaborate with the Technical Team and site teams to re-engineer system setpoints and control logic for maximum efficiency.
  • Technical Procurement & Budgeting:Be part of the management team for the capital expenditure (CAPEX) for energy projects; providing technical validation for ensuring ROI through robust engineering calculations.
  • Grant & Funding Leadership:Be part of the team and lead technical input for government and sporting body funding (e.g., PSDS), ensuring engineering specifications meet strict grant criteria.
  • Compliance & Technical Standards:Ensure all assets comply with statutory energy legislation (ESOS, SECR) and drive the adoption of ISO 50001 standards across the organization.
  • Capital Works Liaison:Act as part of the team and be the technical consultant for facility refurbishments, ensuring MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) designs are optimised for future-proof sustainability.
  • Stakeholder Technical Liaison:Support the translation of complex engineering data into actionable insights for the Senior Leadership Team and local authority partners, alongside bringing the site teams up to standard on energy efficiency
  • Engineering Background:Proven experience in energy engineering or building services, specifically within high-demand environments (e.g., leisure centers, swimming pools, or industrial plants).
  • Specialist Systems Knowledge:Deep expertise in HVAC systems, Building Management Systems (BMS),
  • Project Leadership:Proven track record of being involved in multi-site engineering retrofits and renewable energy installations from a lead technical perspective.
  • Data Proficiency:Mastery of energy modeling tools and the ability to interpret complex telemetry to drive engineering decisions.
  • Education:Qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
  • Standards:Strong knowledge of ISO 50001 (Energy Management) and technical building regulations (Part L).
  • Understanding:in-depth knowledge of our Estate alongside an overarching view of Leisure

Must be able to participate in an on-call Rota as part of the company engineering team.
