About the role
The young adults aged 16-25 years that learn with us as day students have big personalities and even bigger ambitions to make the most of their education so that they can live as independently as possible. Our committed staff team put students first in everything that they do, being proactive, dynamic and collaborative for the benefit of the learners, whatever their ability.
As a Lead Care and Education Support Worker you will use previous experience of supervising / mentoring more junior staff to guide and mentor our Care and Education Support team as well as taking an active part in provide both personal care and learning support during therapeutic, social and educational activities.
You will use your problem solving and organisational skills to support the Service Manager in the successful day to day running of the college including coordinating rotas and allocating staff, whilst also ensuring that we are completing all levels of administration and documentation to the highest standards.
It will also be important that you are an effective communicator to be able to liaise with parents / carers / external support agencies as well as the wider support network of education and therapy teams within National Star.
Enthusiasm, professionalism and a strong work ethic is essential, as well as being able to demonstrate a positive attitude towards the aspirations of young people with disabilities. You will be a self-starter who can use your own initiative, be able to manage change and show resilience when things don’t go to plan.
Experience of working in a learning support or care role (ideally with people with learning and/or physical disabilities) and a Level 3 qualification in care or learning support is required for this role. You will be required to work 5 days a week and you will need to be available between 8.30am – 4:30 pm (5pm one evening a week for team meeting) Monday to Friday, for 39 weeks, term-time.
