De La Warr Pavilion Callout: Lead Artist for HAF (Holiday Activities & Food) – 2026 Deadline to apply: Wednesday 18 March, 9am Fee: £3170 (inclusive of planning and delivery – separate budget for materials) Location: Sidley & Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex We are looking for a confident, experienced Lead Artist to plan and deliver inclusive creative workshops as part of our Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme for children in Sidley and Bexhill. HAF is a government-funded programme oEering free creative, active, and nutritious holiday provision for children who receive free school meals during term time. Our groups include children with a range of interests, abilities, and access needs, including some with higher support needs. Where there are higher support needs additional pastoral facilitation and one-to-one support is provided. Project Dates You will lead four weeks of creative delivery across the following dates: • Week 1 (in partnership with Create Music and Bexhill Museum) Mon 30 – Tues 31 March Children aged 8–11, based at Bexhill Museum and De La Warr Pavilion o Day 1 (Mon): Museum trip to Bexhill Museum, led by museum staE. The artist attends to meet the children and explore with them. o Day 2 (Tues): Artist leads a full-day workshop inspired by a theme chosen by the museum team that responds to their collections. This Easter the theme is the Roman Empire. There will be Create Music volunteers and a member of the DLWP Learning team with you for support. o Days 3–4 (Thurs–Fri): Music sessions led by Create Music (artist not required on these days). (Please submit a short outline plan for this week using the linked form) • Week 2 (in partnership with Create Music and Bexhill Museum) Mon 27 – Tues 28 July Children aged 8–11, based at Bexhill Museum and De La Warr Pavilion o Day 1 (Mon): Museum trip to Bexhill Museum, led by museum staE. The artist attends to meet the children and explore with them. o Day 2 (Tues): Artist leads a full-day workshop inspired by a theme chosen by the museum team; the theme for summer will be confirmed at a later date. There will be Create Music volunteers and a member of the DLWP Learning team with you for support. o Days 3–4 (Thurs–Fri): Music sessions led by Create Music (artist not required on these days). (This week will be planned collaboratively once the artist is appointed) • Week 3 – Sidley Junior Art Camp (in partnership with Heart of Sidley) Wed 5 – Fri 7 August Children aged 4-7, based in Sidley There will be 1 assistant artist, a member of the DLWP Learning team and 2 support staE with you. (Please submit a short outline plan for this week using the linked form) • Week 4 – Sidley Art Camp (in partnership with Heart of Sidley) Wed 19 – Fri 21 August Children aged 8-11, based in Sidley There will be 1 assistant artist, a member of the DLWP Learning team and 2 support staE with you. (This week will be planned collaboratively once the artist is appointed) Who we’re looking for: We’re looking for an artist who: • Has experience delivering creative sessions for children aged 4–11. • Brings a warm, inclusive, and flexible approach to working with mixed-access groups, including some children with higher support needs. • Can design imaginative sessions that support participation, play, and confidence. • Is confident managing group dynamics with support from our team. • Can collaborate with facilitators and partner organisations.
