Language Assistants

Radley College is looking for French, German and Spanish Language Assistants who will support our dynamic and friendly modern languages department during the academic year (2026/27 – 1 September 2026 to 30 June 2027). The successful candidates will speak the target language to native standard and have an interest in language learning or perhaps a career in education. This appointment could be for a fixed term of one year or permanent and you will need to have the right to work in the UK.

French – 30 hours per week, term time

Spanish – 30 hours per week, term time

German- 14 hours per week, term time

Responsibilities:

• Support teachers in developing the speaking skills of pupils.
• Conduct lessons with students of German, French or Spanish individually or in pairs.
• Prepare teaching and display materials for the department.

Requirements:

• An excellent level of written and spoken French,German, or Spanish.
• An interest in cultural topics concerning countries where French,German or Spanish is spoken.
• Although not essential, it would be beneficial to have a strong academic background (BA, BSc or equivalent).
• It would also be beneficial to have an understanding of the Pearson A level and Cambridge IGCSE examinations however this is not essential.

Working hours are dictated by the College timetable and can be tailored to suit individual circumstances. Assistants typically work five days a week, including some early evenings.
