We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Porter to join our team at ACS International School Cobham. This is a key role in ensuring the kitchen runs smoothly, safely, and efficiently, supporting chefs and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.

Kitchen Porters play a vital role in keeping our kitchen running smoothly, safely, and efficiently. As part of the team, you’ll be responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene, ensuring full compliance with food safety regulations, including HACCP.

You’ll support our chefs and kitchen staff by taking care of essential day-to-day tasks such as washing dishes, cleaning equipment and workspaces, clearing service areas, and managing waste. Your work will help prevent cross-contamination, reduce risks, and keep the kitchen operating at its best.

Working pattern:

  • On site, KT11 1BL
  • Term time only
  • Week 1: 07:00 – 15:00, 40 hours per week
  • Week 2 11:00 – 19:00, 40 hours per week

Duties and Responsibilities include:
Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Adhere to Health & Safety legislation and follow all in-house procedures
  • Adhere to, monitor, and help enforce the HACCP policy
  • Ensure all COSHH procedures are followed
  • Safely follow all kitchen procedures and policies.

Cleaning & Hygiene Standards

  • Maintain high hygiene standards at all times
  • Ensure plates, cutlery, and utensils are cleaned promptly
  • Ensure the dining hall is cleared of dirty crockery after each service.

Equipment & Operational Duties 

  • Operate kitchen equipment as part of daily cleaning tasks.

Monitoring & Documentation 

  • Ensure all daily cleaning checklists are completed and signed off
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties assigned by the Catering Manager or Sous Chef
  • Inform the Head Chef or Catering Manager of any stock shortages
  • Report any faulty equipment or issues immediately to the Head Chef or Catering Manager so they can be fixed in a timely manner.

Food Preparation & Service Support 

  • Assist in day-to-day food preparation, including events
  • Set up, serve, and clean down service areas after school service
  • Liaise between duty chef and lunch supervisors when required.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in food service preferred, but full training provided
  • Basic literacy skills to complete training, fill out checklists etc
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to complete HACCP documentation
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Organised
  • Own transport due to location
  • Based in the UK and able to commute.
