Are you passionate about inspiring children aged 8-18 to get involved in positive activities including football sessions, workshops and mentoring projects across the city? We are seeking experienced and creative individuals, who have a genuine passion to assist young people to achieve their potential and improve their wellbeing, and in doing so, working collectively to build a stronger, safer and more inclusive City of Birmingham.
The ideal candidate will be UEFA C qualified and have a demonstrable ability to engage with participants from a range of diverse backgrounds, providing a positive, inspiring and safe environment. Furthermore, you will keep up to date with the current trends and challenges that young people in Birmingham face.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver sessions, events and activities which are within budget and have high impact.
- Providing a safe and fun environment for young people to meet new friends, develop skills, improve their mental and physical wellbeing and promote personal development.
- Ensure that safeguarding is at the heart of all work, applying best practices and policies in all aspects of student support and sessions including registers, medical needs and additional support is reviewed prior to each session and adaptations made where required.
- Develop and maintain positive professional relationships with young people, engaging them in activities that promote personal and social development.
- Work alongside the project coordinator at all sessions and events in relation to the programme.
- Support with the facilitation of consultation to gather information about local needs and inform project planning and design and support with establishing a project steering group.
- Support with planning and delivering inspiring, interactive and engaging sessions for young people from 8-18 years old. (up to 25 for volunteers)
- Liaise with funding provider (PLCF) on a regular basis in conjunction with the Project Coordinator.
- Coordinate and deliver the Foundations Strike a Change mentoring programme – September 2025 to July 2026.
- To create sessions which enable individuals to develop their skills and abilities whilst providing an enjoyable learning experience
- To plan and deliver coaching sessions in line with BCFC Foundation coaching syllabus and which are based on the needs of specific individuals
- Ensure all administration processes are implemented for sessions including registers, session plans and registration forms are up to date and processed correctly.

What we are looking for in you:
- Experience of creating and delivering activities to building strong rapport with young people from diverse backgrounds in inner city community settings.
- An understanding of how to use the power of football to engage, enthuse and provide opportunities to young people.
- Knowledge around high quality coaching and how to deliver outstanding community football/sports sessions.
- An in-depth knowledge of sport/youth work including innovative ways of engaging children and young people and an understanding of the challenges they face.
- Excellent communication and organisation skills.
- Able to work late afternoons and early evenings and be able to travel around Birmingham.
- Hold a minimum of: UEFA C Licence, FA Introduction to First Aid in Football Award, FA Safeguarding Children Award.
- Coaching qualifications in other sports or Youth Work qualifications would also be advantageous.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to work flexibly
