The Chair of the IAC is one of the Trustees of IOM3 and as such, also sits on the Executive Board.

The IAC is responsible for communications between the Institute and its international communities. It also encourages the development of new activities and communities outside the UK, and the delivery of services to the international community in line with the Institute’s international strategy.

The IAC conducts the majority of its business virtually at different times of the day to accommodate the Committee’s international membership. The Chair will promote and co-ordinate international links and efforts as aligned with the IOM3 international strategy, chair Committee meetings, and represent international membership on the IOM3 Members’ Board. The role may involve foreign travel to promote IOM3 and engage with members based around the world.

As a Trustee of IOM3, the Chair ensures that the perspectives of international members are fed into the discussions of the IOM3 Executive Board. They will prepare reports for and attend its meetings (six a year, usually five online and one in person) and play a full role as a Trustee.

Further information on the Committee can be found in the Institute’s Committee Terms of Reference Document below.

The appointments will be made for an initial term of two years, with re-appointment for a final four-year term an option.

Nominees must be members of the Institute in good standing, with a track record of engagement with IOM3, a demonstrable commitment to support the Institute’s international development and be eligible to be a trustee of a charity based in the UK. The successful applicants will also be able to show a track record of leading groups of volunteers. We are open to nominations from candidates with a background in any of the many different activities and sectors of the Institute’s members. We are also particularly keen to improve the diversity of our volunteer cadre.

If you'd like to apply or arrange an informal chat about the role, please email  Anita Horton, Head of Governance at anita.horton@iom3.org

Nomination is by submission of:

  • CV
  • statement of what you can contribute as a Chair of the International Affairs Committee

Please email your nomination to Anita by 16 March at 23:59 GMT.

Don’t meet every requirement? Studies have shown that women and people of colour are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single qualification. At IOM3 we are building a diverse, inclusive and authentic Institute. If you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification in the role description, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may just be the right candidate for this or other roles.
