Bloxham School is seeking an enthusiastic, organised and student-focused International Student Coordinator to support a group of ten Chinese students all aged between 13 and 16, during an intensive 12-week integration programme. Accommodation and meals will be provided.

This is a unique and rewarding opportunity for someone with experience in English language teaching and pastoral support who enjoys working in a diverse, international environment. The role combines teaching, pastoral care, programme coordination and activity planning, ensuring students are fully supported both academically and socially throughout their stay.

The Role:

You will play a central role in helping international students settle quickly into school life, develop their English language skills and fully engage with the boarding and wider school community.

Key responsibilities include:

Teaching and Academic Support

  • Deliver high-quality English language lessons using TEFL methodologies.
  • Plan and adapt lessons to meet a range of abilities and learning needs.
  • Assess student progress and provide regular feedback.
  • Organise individual and group timetables to support structured learning.

Pastoral Care and Integration

  • Support students’ integration into the boarding community.
  • Work closely with boarding staff to ensure students feel safe, supported and included.
  • Maintain a visible, approachable presence within the boarding environment.
  • Manage routine pastoral matters and escalate welfare concerns where appropriate.

Programme Coordination and Activities

  • Coordinate and deliver a full programme of enrichment activities.
  • Plan and lead trips and excursions, including completion of risk assessments.
  • Liaise with internal departments to arrange access to facilities, clubs and events.
  • Maintain accurate records of timetables, attendance and participation.

General Responsibilities

  • Communicate professionally with parents, staff and external partners.
  • Support programme administration and record keeping.
  • Promote an inclusive and positive cultural experience for all students.
  • Uphold safeguarding, child protection and welfare procedures at all times.

The role will require evening and weekend working in line with programme activities.

About You:

We are looking for someone who is warm, proactive and highly organised, with a genuine interest in supporting international students.

Essential:

  • Degree-level qualification (or equivalent).
  • TEFL qualification (e.g. CELTA, TESOL, CertTESOL) or equivalent.
  • Experience teaching English as a foreign language to young learners or teenagers.
  • Experience preparing lessons and tailored learning materials.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills.

Desirable:

  • Additional teaching or EAL qualifications.
  • Experience working in a boarding school environment.
  • Experience coordinating activities, trips or structured programmes.

You will also be adaptable, resilient and enthusiastic, with a strong commitment to student welfare and safeguarding.
