Do you have a skill, hobby, trade, craft or area of expertise that you'd love to share with others?
Following overwhelming interest from our recent community survey, Dumfries & Galloway College is expanding its programme of recreational and evening learning opportunities. We are now looking for enthusiastic and knowledgeable instructors to develop and deliver engaging short courses, workshops and evening classes.
We welcome applications from individuals with skills and experience in a wide range of subjects, including:
- Arts and crafts
- DIY and home improvement
- Languages
- Health and wellbeing
- Photography
- Cooking and baking
- Business and professional skills
- Fitness and physical activity
- Digital and creative technologies
- Music and performing arts

Key Responsibilities
As a Recreational Learning Instructor, you will:
- Plan and deliver engaging, practical and enjoyable learning sessions
- Create a positive learning experience for all participants
- Support and encourage learners to achieve their goals
- Develop structured learning activities appropriate to the subject area
- Provide constructive guidance and feedback to learners
- Promote safe and inclusive learning practices
To succeed in the role, you will have some or all of the following:
· Expertise in your specialised subject
· Excellent organisational skills
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Proficiency in digital skills relevant to the role, including experience using MS Office and any job-specific software/systems
· Adaptability to evolving digital opportunities and willingness to continuously improve digital competencies.

If you’re successful in securing the role, your employment will be conditional on the college receiving two satisfactory references and background checks including the disclosure Scotland check on all criminal offences (spent & unspent) so ensure you are not barred from working with Children or Vulnerable Adults.
All staff are required to become a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) membership scheme, which is managed and delivered by Disclosure Scotland.
