Information Systems & Data Manager (Job Share) 40 hours per week, M-F Job Description & Person Specification September 2026 Responsible to: Head of Senior Section and Head of Prep Line manages: NA Job Overview The Information Systems & Data Manager is responsible for ensuring the effective management, accuracy, security and strategic use of pupil, assessment and school data. The post holders jointly lead the school’s information systems function, combining technical MIS expertise with high-quality data analysis to support teaching, learning, operational planning and statutory compliance. The role is delivered as a job share, with each post holder working three days per week and contributing complementary strengths across systems administration, data management, reporting and analysis. Duties and Responsibilities: MIS & Systems Management Maintain and develop the school’s MIS and associated systems, ensuring accurate setup of academic and pastoral structures each year. Ensure the MIS reflects the current timetable and supports operational processes. Provide first-line support for MIS issues and liaise with technical staff on system upgrades and integrations. Manage user accounts, permissions and access control in line with GDPR and safeguarding requirements. Oversee the school’s intranet (iNet), media library and other digital resources. Support the induction and ongoing training of staff in the use of MIS and related systems. Assessment, Exams & Reporting Support the setup, administration and quality assurance of assessment and reporting cycles. Ensure accurate recording of assessment and exam data, including support of statutory returns such as census submissions. Assist with the production, collation and checking of parent reports. Support the Exams Manager with data-related tasks, including results analysis and data validation. This job description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of duties. Data Quality, Compliance & GDPR Maintain high standards of data accuracy, consistency and validation across all systems. Develop and enforce protocols for consistent data entry and secure data handling. Ensure compliance with GDPR, including system permissions, data storage, DPIAs and secure sharing with third parties. Monitor security settings and ensure staff access aligns with role requirements. Data Analysis & Insight Produce high-quality analysis of pupil performance, progress and attainment, identifying trends and areas for intervention. Provide tabular and graphical analysis of internal assessments and external examination results. Produce reports for SLT and Governors aligned to assessment cycles. Support staff in interpreting data and using insights to inform teaching and strategic planning. Strategic Development & Innovation Identify opportunities to improve data processes, reduce duplication and enhance the school’s use of information. Research and evaluate new technologies, systems and approaches to data management. Maintain awareness of sector developments and build networks with peers in other schools. Contribute to the IT development plan and support procurement, licensing and budget management for information systems. Contribute to policy development and ensure best value in the selection and procurement of systems. Staff Support & Training Provide training and guidance to staff on MIS use, data processes and reporting. Develop a culture of independence in data extraction and interpretation. Strong technical skills, including advanced Excel/Google Sheets. Ability to manipulate, validate and analyse large datasets with precision. Understanding of GDPR, data protection, confidentiality and secure data handling. Ability to produce clear, accurate reports and data visualisations. Knowledge of assessment and reporting processes within a school environment. Ability to troubleshoot system issues and support staff in using MIS tools. Probationary Period This role is subject to a probationary period of 12 months from the start of employment, and may be extended at the School’s discretion.
