- Salary:£11,308 - £12,071 per annum (£28,270 - £30,177 pro rated), plus generous employer pension contributions.
- Contract:Part time, 15 hours per week (Fixed term: End August 2026 - end June 2027)
- Location:Based at SU Scotland’s Glasgow office or Gowanbank, with role-related attendance in region as required.

WHO WE ARE
Scripture Union Scotland is a national charity, with 140 staff and 2,500 volunteers. Our vision is to see every child and young person of Scotland exploring the Bible and responding to the significance of Jesus.
We are seeking a part time Independent Schools Worker to join our Local Ministries Team to develop SU Scotland’s ministry within the West Team. This is a fixed term contract to cover maternity leave.
To fulfil the vision and values of SU Scotland through the development of Local Ministry Hubs and Independent schools’ work (particularly SU groups) in the West.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- To contribute to and implement an integrated ministry plan for the West Independent Schools, for 2026 - 2027, that reflects the SU Scotland vision, values, priorities and outcomes above.
- Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with schools, including contributions to RO and RME programmes through digital or face to face packages such as Bible Alive, Christmas Journey, Colour in Easter, etc.
- Developing and supporting new and existing service in/for schools.
- Promoting SU Groups and Connect Groups within schools and churches.
- Recruiting and training volunteers including senior pupils to lead these groups/activities
- To ensure effective administration of the work.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The successful applicant will have experience of schools' work and Christian ministry with children and/or young people; someone who has led teams of volunteers and is a confident communicator of Biblical truth with a wide range of young people. You should be based in/near Glasgow and be prepared to support SU Scotland’s ministry in all parts of the region.
For this post, it is important that you able to demonstrate a commitment to SU Scotland’s ethos, working principles and vision. It is also an Occupational Requirement (Equality Act - part 1, schedule 9), that the post-holder is a committed Christian.
