Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA), Lotus Project
We’re pleased to announce an excellent opportunity for an IDVA (Independent Domestic Violence Advocate) to join our Lotus Project. The Bridge Project has been providing support since 1983. We work with individuals, families and communities to improve people’s lives in a sustainable way, recognising that solutions are often complex. Today we have a strong staff team of 120 dedicated individuals who address a range of issues such as homelessness, substance misuse, sex working, housing, employment and lots more.
The IDVA will be based in the Lotus Project team but working across other multi-need teams within the organisation. The aim of the Lotus Project is to engage and support individuals, of any gender, to divert from or exit from sex work through a range of support infrastructures for themselves and their families. The successful candidate will report to the Lead IDVA/ISVA who is already embedded in the team and provides a high quality frontline IDVA case holder service to individuals accessing the Lotus Project and our other multi-need teams who are also experiencing domestic abuse and/or sexual violence related trauma.
We are looking for someone with a minimum of 2 years full time direct casework delivery experience for individuals with multiple needs and who holds a minimum IDVA qualification. You will be highly organised with excellent communication skills and able to manage your time effectively, working as part of the team, whilst applying your knowledge of the issues affecting people who are or have recently experienced domestic abuse/sexual violence and the impact on their health and wellbeing You will have experience of and the ability to liaise and build links with professionals from a variety of disciplines as well as knowledge of the legislative framework of domestic abuse.
You will be passionate about what we do, demonstrating resilience and the ability to deal with difficult situations calmly, tactfully and responsibly. It is essential that you have a driving licence with access to a vehicle and business insurance. A willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check is also a requirement of the post.
