The Income Generation Director is a member of the Senior Leadership Team and reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer. The role has strategic responsibility for all income-generating activity and provides leadership across fundraising, communications and retail. The postholder line-manages the Retail Manager and the Fundraising and Communications Manager, working closely with them to ensure an integrated approach to income generation and supporter engagement. The role also works in close partnership with the Chief Operating Officer and Finance Manager to align income growth with operational capacity, financial planning and organisational priorities. As a senior leader, the Income Generation Director works closely with the Board of Trustees, contributing to strategic planning, reporting on income performance and, when required, deputising for the CEO. The role is outward-facing and plays an important part in representing Hospices of Hope with donors, corporate partners, volunteers and other stakeholders. This structure enables the Income Generation Director to have significant influence over the charity’s strategic direction while remaining closely connected to delivery, impact and the mission at the heart of Hospices of Hope. The successful candidate will bring a proven track record in income generation, fundraising or business development, with experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and delivering sustained financial growth. They will be an exceptional relationship-builder, able to engage senior donors, corporates and partners with credibility and impact and will combine strong commercial judgement with creativity and a hands-on approach. Excellent communication, influencing and presentation skills are essential, as is the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and functions. Experience in international fundraising, charity retail, or the palliative care or international development sectors would be an advantage, as would familiarity with working alongside Boards of Trustees. Above all, we are looking for someone who will bring energy, vision and commitment to our mission and help strengthen our organisation for the years ahead. The Income Generation Director plays a key role in the public face of Hospices of Hope and you will be responsible for leading fundraising primarily through volunteers and third parties including major donors and corporate relationships. You must be prepared to deliver your programme of activities with ambitious income targets through your team and volunteers. From time to time evening, weekend and public holiday working are part of the role, in response to the fundraising programme and to support volunteer and corporate activities. The role is offered on a full-time basis for 37.5 hours a week. A detailed job description and person specification can be found on page 6 of the pack. A full, clean driving licence and the use of a reliable, suitably insured car are essential for this role. Thank you for your interest in working at Hospices of Hope 3 TERMS AND CONDITIONS The role is offered on a full-time basis for 37.5 hours a week. Due to the nature of your work your 37.5 hours weekly maybe required to be worked outside of 5 full working days e.g. 37.5 hours across Sunday to Saturday should there be events to attend etc. Holiday entitlement is 25 days per annum for full-time staff plus 8 public holidays. Holiday entitlement for part-time staff is calculated on a pro-rata basis. The holiday year runs from 1 January to 31 December each year. The Charity operates a contributory pension scheme through NOW pensions for eligible staff. The Charity is unable to contribute towards the cost of relocation, if this is necessary. As part of the induction procedure for employment, we ask the successful candidate to complete a pre-employment medical questionnaire. We would require the post holder to visit at least one of our hospice network partners in South and East Europe. This will be arranged by the charity on a mutually convenient date. However, this role is to oversee the fundraising for Hospices of Hope UK and not their network partners. We encourage peer to peer support through our charity aims but regular travel overseas will not be required. Regular presence in the office and at external meetings in London will be expected, alongside occasional UK-wide and overseas travel. Purpose of the Role The Income Generation Director will lead the strategic development and delivery of all income- generating activities for Hospices of Hope, ensuring sustainable growth to support the charity’s mission of bringing dignity and compassion to those who need it most across South and East Europe. As a key member of the senior leadership team, the postholder will provide vision, leadership and coordination across fundraising, communications and retail, ensuring these functions work seamlessly together to deliver ambitious targets and long-term financial stability. The role will also serve as Deputy to the CEO when required, offering senior strategic support and leadership continuity. The postholder will have significant autonomy to shape and lead the income generation strategy and will work closely with the CEO and Trustees to influence organisational direction. Key Responsibilities 1. Strategic Leadership - Develop and deliver the income generation strategy aligned to the organisational strategy - Provide strategic oversight of fundraising, retail and communications, ensuring integration across all income streams. - Lead on innovation and diversification of income, including corporate partnerships, major giving, trusts and foundations, events, and digital fundraising. - Work closely with the CEO and COO to align income growth plans with operational capacity and programme delivery. - Act as a key spokesperson and ambassador for Hospices of Hope, representing the charity externally with professionalism and impact. 2. Fundraising and Communications - Provide leadership, mentoring and support to the Fundraising and Communications Manager, ensuring delivery of ambitious income and engagement targets. - Oversee and grow key income streams, including corporate partnerships, individual giving, legacy fundraising and events. - Strengthen the charity’s communications strategy to build brand awareness, supporter loyalty and storytelling impact. - Lead and participate directly in major donor and high-value fundraising, working closely with the CEO to cultivate and steward relationships. 6 3. Retail Development - Line manage the Retail Manager, ensuring continued growth across Hospices of Hope’s charity shops, online retail and digital sales platforms. - Support the Head of Retail in delivering the retail strategy, including shop performance, volunteer engagement and expansion plans. - Work collaboratively with the COO on retail operations, logistics and new shop openings. - Champion retail as an integral part of the charity’s community engagement and income generation model. 4. Financial and Performance Management - Lead the annual income generation budgeting and forecasting process, ensuring realistic yet ambitious targets. - Monitor and report on income performance and KPIs to the CEO and Board of Trustees. - Ensure compliance with fundraising and data protection regulations. - Promote a culture of accountability, efficiency, and impact measurement across all income areas. 5.
