We are looking for an experienced Human Resources Manager to join us for a 12-month fixed-term maternity cover position.

The Human Resources Manager is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping, leading and delivering an effective, evidence-led People & Culture strategy that supports organisational objectives and excellent client services.

As a member of the Senior Management Team, the postholder will provide strategic and operational HR leadership across the organisation, ensuring a positive, inclusive and high-performing workplace culture. The role combines long-term strategic workforce planning with the delivery of high-quality, legally compliant HR services. The postholder will support managers and leaders to build strong people management capability, promote wellbeing and engagement, and ensure organisational sustainability.

As a senior representative of the organisation, the Human Resources Manager will use people insight and data to identify risks and opportunities, set clear priorities, and provide robust reporting and recommendations to the Senior Management Team and Trustee Board.

  • A member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) at Associate level (Assoc CIPD) (or equivalent qualifications/experience).
  • Experience of strategic Human Resource management, including leading on people and culture strategies.
  • Proven ability to operate credibly at Senior leadership level, providing strategic advice, constructive challenge and clear recommendations to support organisational decision-making.
  • Experience of governance-style reporting and assurance, including producing high-quality written papers/updates and presenting key people risks, options and actions to senior groups or Boards.
  • Strong experience of Organisational change, workforce planning and people analytics.
  • Proven experience of people-based risk management, and demonstrating solution-based planning and decision-making.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • Excellent influencing, coaching, communication and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to coach managers and leaders, enabling them to build their own people management capability, working to encourage a culture of trust, people development and wellbeing, to enable everyone to be their best at work.
  • Fully conversant with Microsoft Office Suite including excel, word, outlook, PowerPoint, Teams/Zoom.
  • Commitment to reflective performance and continuing professional development
  • Ability to travel and work across Cornwall
  • Understanding of the voluntary and community sector and the challenges and opportunities facing the sector.

In accordance with Citizens Advice national policy the successful candidate will be required to undergo screening for a basic criminal check (DBS). However, a criminal record will not necessarily be a bar to your being able to take up the job.

* 37 hours per week (full-time), part-time working may be considered
* Salary: £39,500 - £49,500 FTE per annum (Band F), pro-rata for part-time working.
