Job Title: Hub Support Worker

Hours of Work: 20 hours per week

Rate of Pay: Actual salary £14,591

Period  of  Employment:  the  post  is  funded  for  one  year  from  the  start  of
contract date

Accountable to: Neighbourhood Development Officer NDO (with day-to-day
supervision provided by Hub Co-ordinator

Organisation description:

the  Council’s  Neighbourhood  Development  service,

As  part  of
two
Loughborough based Community Hubs, running from ground floor flats in the
Councils  housing  estates.  One  hub  is  located  at  91  Russell  Street  and  the
other hub is located at 72 Warwick Way. The hubs have been supporting the
communities and residents for over 15 years. The centres offer a safe space
for  residents  to  access  services  and  support,  for  partners  to  provide  drop-in
sessions and for wider community engagement and activities.

Brief role overview:

The Hub Support worker will assist the running of the Hubs and wider
community activities.

The role will include the supporting centre’s volunteers and helpers, ensuring
they  have  the  training  to  deal  with  all  the  centre  users’  needs  and  provide
support of community driven activities and events.

The role will include responsibility of the administration and general caretaking
duties  of  the  centre.  This  will  include  general  administration,  simple
bookkeeping, diary management and supporting the delivery of hub activities
and projects.

Skills/Qualification required:

Passion and positivity are the main requirements, but you will also need to be
able to demonstrate certain skills and qualities which include:

  Ability to communicate clearly
  Respect for views, values and cultures that are different to their own

  An understanding of why confidentiality and safeguarding is important
  Able to work individually as well as part of a team
  Must be a self-confident, mature, responsible person who can maintain

a positive and pleasant attitude

The Co-ordinator full role includes the following:

Caretaking Responsibilities

Ensure  that  the  Hub  is  open  at  agreed  core  times  and  enable
access  for  approved  agencies  and  groups  outside  these  hours  in
liaison with approved key holders.
Ensure that Hub is maintained in a clean and orderly state and that
room preparation is completed for user groups.
Ensure  any  inappropriate  behaviour  or  usage  is  reported  to  the
relevant services.
Report all matters requiring repair and maintenance.
Take  a  lead  on  the  Hubs  compliance  with  all  Health  &  Safety
requirements including regular safety checks and updates.

Users

1.  Maintain  a  record of  users  of  the  Hub  ad  complete  monthly  usage

statistics for the Advisory Group Meetings.

2.  Provide  general  information  and  signposting  to  residents  requiring
assistance  in  reporting  matters  to  relevant  agencies,  using  the
facilities available at the centre.

3.  Provide  general  information  and  signposting  on  services  available
to  residents  both  at  the  Hub  or  external  to  the  immediate  area  as
appropriate.

4.  Ensure  users/groups  observe  all  rules  and  restrictions  on  usage

including limitations arising from planning permission.

5.  Ensure  any  disciplinary  measures  are  enforced  for  breach  of

policies or acceptable behaviour.

Centre Volunteers and Helpers

Help with the recruitment and development of the centre volunteers

and helpers.

Organise training for volunteers to help fulfil their voluntary role.

Community Development

1.

Support  the  residents  to  build  on  community  engagement  and
cohesion  through  the  organisation  of  community  activities  and
events.

Ensure any concerns of Safeguarding matters are reported.
Keep record of all incidents and accidents in the Accident book and
check first aid kit regularly.
To attend monthly supervision meeting with The Hub Co-ordinator
Attend  quarterly  supervision  with  Neighbouhood  Development
Officer
To be flexible in working hours including evenings and weekends.
Take  responsibility  of  own  learning  and  development  including
through regular supervision and appraisals.
