FareShare South West joins the dots between food waste and hunger, empowering communities to turn an environmental problem into lasting social good. We rescue tonnes of quality surplus food from the industry and share it with charities and schools to bring health, dignity and routes out of poverty for people across the south west. Hub Supervisor – south Bristol
Salary: £26,500 pro rata
Terms: Permanent, 25 days Holiday pa (pro rata, exc. Bank Holidays), 5% pension contribution
Hours: 37.5 hours per week. This role is also available as 0.8 (30 hours per week) for the right candidate (hours between 7.30am – 5pm depending on shift pattern, and occasional evening shifts)
Location: 2 Vale Lane, Bristol BS3 5RU, with some flexibility to support our central Bristol hub
The Hub Supervisor plays an essential role in the smooth running of our South Bristol Hub.
You will work as part of a team to support the hub operations, overseeing incoming goods, storage and dispatching food to member charities, while always maintaining high levels of compliance. This role will include working with a large and diverse team of volunteers.
The role will be primarily based at our South Bristol Hub where, alongside our usual food redistribution operation and volunteering programme, we run our youth employability programme FareChance.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Problem solver and competent decision maker
- Full UK driving licence and forklift truck operator’s qualification (or willing to train as an essential part of the role)
- IT competent and able to use various IT platforms/systems
- A clear commitment to the ethos of FareShare South West
Desirable:
- One years’ experience of working in warehousing operations
- Voluntary sector experience
- Experience of working with people who require support
- Experience and knowledge of adhering to health and safety standards
- Experience of working within a food operation
- Qualification in Food & Hygiene Level 2
- Experience of supervising staff and/or volunteers and delegating tasks
- Experience of delivering training

Employability Facilitator
Salary: £26,500 pro rata (£21,200pa) Terms: Permanent Contract, 25 days Holiday (exc. Bank Holidays) pro rata, 5% pension contributionHours: 30 hours per week Location: Bristol with occasional travel
In this role you will deliver FareShare South West’s FareChance programme. This will include running employability workshops and practical logistics sessions. You will also provide one to one support for young people where required, as well as signposting and referrals to other specialist services and career pathways.
You will bring your passion and experience in supporting people to achieve their goals and be sensitive to the inequality and power imbalance faced by young people.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Knowledge and experience of delivering one to one and group motivational mentoring, coaching or support work
- Successful experience of supporting people back into work or training, with a strong commitment to advancing equality, diversity and inclusion
- Ability to work flexibly, respond positively to project changes and meet challenging targets
- Excellent interpersonal and listening skills with the ability to influence, motivate and negotiate.
- Good IT skills
Desirable:
- Experience of working with a diverse range of young people and responding appropriately to challenging behaviours
- Understanding and/or experience of a logistics or warehouse environment
- Project supervision experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Understanding of safeguarding and GDPR regulations
- Ability to set up and maintain accurate and timely records for monitoring and evaluating purposes
- Strong organisational skills; including planning, prioritising and time management

Hub Manager – Devon and Cornwall
Salary: £28,500 – £30,000, depending on experience Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday, rota’d evening shifts and occasional weekends) Terms: Permanent, 25 days holiday pa (pro rata, exc. Bank Holidays), 5% pension contribution Location: Based at our Sisna Park Hub, Plymouth + ad hoc support to our Bristol Hubs Manage: Directly: Lead Supervisor, Supervisors, Community Food Produce Coordinator, (fixed term role), Volunteer Team (incl. Corporate Volunteers, Drivers, Driver’s Mate), agency staff
The Hub Manager is responsible for the day-to-day leadership of a FareShare South West Hub, ensuring safe, efficient and compliant operations that maximise the volume of surplus food received, stored, and distributed to our Community Food Members.
This includes managing a mixed team of staff, FareChance employability participants and volunteers in their operational tasks, maintaining high operational and health & safety standards, and collaborating with colleagues across food & logistics, compliance, and community engagement.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Proven experience in warehouse or logistics operations, with responsibility for delivery of KPIs
- Strong working knowledge of health & safety legislation and risk management within a warehouse setting, and ability to champion a safety first culture while enabling productivity
- Experience of and confidence in working with clear procedures and compliance requirements such as food safety, hygiene and auditing processes
- Can demonstrate supportive, motivational, proactive and structured team leadership, including recruitment, supervision, and performance management
- Experience of working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with the ability to manage multiple priorities and respond in a calm, solutions-focused way under pressure
- Competency in stock control systems and inventory management (e.g. digital stock systems such as GLADYS or similar)
- Clear and confident communicator, both written and verbal, with experience of cross-team and stakeholder communication
- Able to demonstrate good judgement and decision-making, including escalating issues appropriately
- Physically able to carry out the role, including manual handling and operating in warehouse conditions
- Comfortable using basic IT tools (e.g. Microsoft Teams, email, online documents). •
- Full UK driving licence, Forklift truck operator’s qualification (or willing to train as an essential part of the role)
Desirable:
- Formal training or certification in health & safety, manual handling, or food hygiene
- Experience of working in a charitable, volunteer-led, or community-based organisation
- Experience of route planning and/or vehicle logistics coordination
- Experience of working within a regulated or audited environment
- Experience contributing to or delivering change initiatives
