An exciting new opportunity has opened up here at Gladstone’s Library. We are looking to recruit a Housekeeping Assistant to join our Housekeeping team.
Location: Gladstone's Library, Hawarden, North Wales
Salary: £12.71 per hour
Contract: Zero Hours

Gladstone's Library is looking for an enthusiastic Housekeeping Assistant to help us deliver the warm welcome and exceptional standards our guests expect. As the UK's only Prime Ministerial Library and a unique residential library, we welcome readers, writers, researchers, retreat guests and visitors from across the world.
This is a flexible, zero-hours role, providing cover during busy periods, holidays and staff absence. Weekend working will be required, with occasional bank holidays.
About the Library:
Gladstone's Library is the UK's finest residential library, boasting 26 bedrooms, an on-site restaurant, silent Reading Rooms and a comfortable guest common room. Guests join us for self-organised visits, or to attend our lively programme of events, or to use our hireable conference facilities, or to take part in our Engagement and Learning programme.
It is also the UK's only Prime Ministerial library and was built following a bequest from William Ewart Gladstone, Victorian statesman and four-times Prime Minister of Great Britain. The current building, raised in 1902 and designed by John Douglas, was funded by public subscription. The organisation is a self-sustaining registered charity.
The Role:
Working as part of our Housekeeping team, you'll help ensure our Grade I listed building, 26 guest bedrooms and public areas are presented to the highest standard. Duties include:
Cleaning guest bedrooms and bathrooms
Changing bed linen and replenishing guest amenities
Cleaning public areas, corridors and meeting spaces
Reporting maintenance issues
Following health and safety and infection control procedures
Helping create a welcoming environment for every guest
About You:
Friendly, reliable and trustworthy
• Proud of delivering high standards of cleanliness
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Physically able to undertake the demands of housekeeping work
• Flexible and willing to work weekends when required
Previous housekeeping or hospitality experience is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
