WHAT WE DO

The Lake District Calvert Trust is a charity that challenges disability through outdoor adventure. We provide fun-filled outdoor adventure for all, with our adapted equipment and specialist knowledge, offering an experience like no other to people with disabilities, their friends and family. We support around 4,000 disabled visitors each year to stay at Calvert Lakes, our 60-bed residential centre or accessible self-catering apartment.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Our Housekeeper role is an integral position within Calvert Lakes, to deliver a high standard of cleaning for our visitors, ensuring that areas are hygienic and clean.

To be successful, you will need to demonstrate that you are a flexible and motivated team player who is able to effectively communicate within the team to ensure issues are reported in a timely manner, ensuring our participants have an excellent experience.

KEY ACCOUNTABLITIES

  • Servicing residential bedrooms and public areas to the highest possible standard (full training provided);
  • Addressing any minor issues during a check
  • Reporting any larger issues to the Housekeeping Supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Responding to guest requirements (additional linen, supplies or care equipment).
  • Monitoring stock levels of cleaning chemicals and domestic items and advise the Housekeeping Supervisor when stock is required.
  • Carrying out linen preparation work in the laundry room.
  • Compliance with all health & safety, company and legislative policies applicable to Calvert Reconnections

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Must be able to use own initiative but equally work with other members of the team.
  • Strong communication skills and good team player.
  • An understanding and empathy for working with people with disabilities.
  • Highly motivated with high standards of hygiene and cleanliness

Desirable

  • Relevant H&S training and qualifications
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Experience of working with guests or customers.

Conditions of Service

This role requires considerable flexibility, enthusiasm and dedication. Being a 24/7 residential centre, this job will involve some weekend and in order to ensure facilities are available to our visitors. Commitment and an appropriate work ethos are essential to ensure certain functions are completed within defined timescales for the smooth operation of the organisation.

Contract: Bank contract

Hours: Working hours are between 9am-5pm as required.

Pension: The Trust operates an occupational pension scheme with National Employment Savings Trust (NEST). We offer a 3% Employee pension and 5% Employer pension contribution.
