Key purpose of the role:

To plan and deliver the college’s Maths courses and programmes

Role outline – Main Responsibilities:

•  As a member of the Education Team, contribute to the development of our curriculum
•  Undertake a teaching commitment defined by the college.
•  Meet the targets set by the college and work within our Framework for Transformational

Teaching, Learning and Assessment

•  Maintain appropriate resources, administrative duties and records for these courses
•  Collaborate with staff across the college to ensure an excellent learner experience from

initial assessment through to progression

•  Participate fully in the college’s quality improvement activity, including moderation and

learning walks

•  Participate fully in the life of the college, adding value to learning beyond the classroom

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE

The appointment is subject to the Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff.

SALARY
The salary range  for this post  is scale  Point 29 to Point  33, currently from  £33,477  to £37,660  per
annum, pro rata. For each teaching hour worked a rate of £23.18 - £26.07 will be paid, this includes
an element for preparation and marking. A rate of £17.17 to £19.31 will be paid for any non-teaching
activities e.g. Staff training, and development. These rates include an element for annual leave which
will be processed three times per annum in April, July and December.

HOURS OF WORK
This role will be offered to you on an hourly paid basis, the precise days and times which you will be
required  to  work  will  be  agreed  upon  between  you  and  your  line  manager,  with  as  much  notice
provided as is reasonably possible. There is no obligation for you accept work and no obligation for
the College to provide work to you.

ANNUAL LEAVE
You will be entitled to annual leave calculated as a proportion of the annual leave entitlement for a
full-time equivalent member of teaching staff which in each holiday year (being the period from 1
August to 31 July) is 37 days plus 8 bank/public holidays and any college efficiency days.

PENSION SCHEME
The College operates an occupational pension scheme, namely the ‘Teachers Pensions’.

PROBATIONARY PERIOD

All newly appointed business support staff have to serve a 9-month probationary period.

LOCATION

The successful applicant will be based at Fircroft College in Selly Oak.

MEDICAL

The successful applicant will be required to satisfy the Medical Officer as to his/her fitness to carry out
the duties of the post.

For health and safety reasons, Fircroft College has designated smoking shelters and smoking is not
permitted in any area other than these.
