Theatre Royal Plymouth is one of the UK's leading regional theatres, welcoming hundreds of thousands of visitors each year to enjoy world-class theatre, comedy, dance, music and community events.
As we prepare for another exciting season of performances, we're looking for enthusiastic, customer-focused individuals to join our Hospitality team. If you enjoy working with people, thrive in a busy environment and take pride in delivering excellent customer service, we'd love to hear from you.
As a Hospitality Assistant, you'll play a key role in creating a memorable experience for our audiences. Working across our bars, cafés and retail outlets, you'll help ensure visitors receive a warm welcome and exceptional service from the moment they arrive.
Hours and Contract
We are offering permanent zero-hours contracts, with anticipated start dates from week commencing 22 June 2026.
- Shifts typically range from 3.5 to 5 hours
- Working hours will include afternoons, evenings and weekends
- Successful applicants must be able to work a minimum of three shifts per week, including at leastone weekend day
- Availability during the Christmas and New Year periodis essential, when additional hours may be available
The Role
Working across any of Theatre Royal Plymouth's retail outlets, you will:
- Welcome, engage and interact with visitors in a friendly, professional and approachable manner.
- Prepare and serve refreshments, barista-style drinks, confectionery, ice cream, food, programmes and merchandise.
- Deliver a consistently high standard of customer service, creating a positive and enjoyable experience for every visitor.
- Assist customers with wayfinding, seating information and accessibility enquiries.
- Respond proactively and positively to customer questions, requests and feedback.
- Prepare retail outlets for service and ensure they remain clean, organised and fully stocked throughout each shift.
- Work flexibly across different outlets and areas of the building as required by operational needs.
- Understand and follow emergency evacuation procedures when required.
To help you deliver exceptional customer service, you will:
- Attend pre-performance briefings to gain knowledge of upcoming productions and visitor information.
- Support the efficient opening and closing of retail outlets.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation and food hygiene.
- Report any issues relating to safety, security or maintenance to the House Management team.
- Develop a good understanding of health and safety, safeguarding, food hygiene, licensing and security procedures.
About You

Previous experience in hospitality, retail or customer service would be advantageous, but is not essential.
