Hospital optometrist required for Guidance for Professional Practice Task and Finish Review Group

The College of Optometrists is looking for a hospital optometrist, to join our Guidance for Professional Practice (GfPP) Task and Finish Review Group. 

The GfPP review process occurs every three years. Being part of the review is an excellent opportunity to contribute your organisation's expertise to the Guidance and collaborate with sector representatives to influence good optometric practice. The aims of the review are to:

• review the contents of our Guidance to ensure it is evidence-based, that it reflects good practice and is up-to-date
• set the guidance out in a clear and accessible way
• ensure that optometrists value and use the Guidance, and that others with an interest in good optometric practice can also use it for the benefit of the general public

This year we have reduced the number of meetings and continue to use shorter and virtual meeting to reduce the time commitment needed and support the sector's aims of improved sustainability.

Please note this is a voluntary not paid role.

Launch of the new Guidance The public consultation will run for six weeks from 8 June to 20 July 2026, during which all members, the public, and stakeholders will have the opportunity to review the final draft and provide feedback. The Task and Finish group will review this feedback, proposed responses and agree on the final version to recommend to the Education and Standards committee for approval in October 2026.
