Dove Cottage has three other charity shops, an Ebay and Vinted online stores to help fund the activities of the hospice. JOB TITLE: HOSPICE SHOP SATURDAY SALES ASSISTANT WORKING HOURS: 8 hours each Saturday RATE OF PAY: £12.71 per hour (from 1st April 2026) RESPONSIBLE TO: SHOP MANAGER AND RETAIL LEAD AIMS: To assist shop manager in managing all aspects of the operational running of the charity shop and promote the work of Dove Cottage Day Hospice KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Oversee the day to day operation of the charity shop including receiving donations, sorting and preparing goods for sale as required. To open and close the premises, ensuring that trading hours are strictly adhered to. Achieve sales targets and run a cost effective operation. To become conversant with Trading Standards Guidelines on the sale of donated goods and strictly adhere to these guidelines. To deal with the public in a helpful and cheery manner. Ensure good customer service is provided: advising customers as necessary, dealing with any complaints and taking payment for goods. Cotgrave Shop Saturday Sales Assistant March 2026 Page 1 of 2 Cash up the till at the end of the day, ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed. Control stock management to realise the maximum profit possible from donated goods, including: • Using a clear sorting and pricing policy • Using a concise stock rotation system • Undertake promotional events • Maintain attractive displays at all times Complete all shop administration as required by Dove Cottage. Ensure the operation conforms to all relevant legislation and company policy, including Environmental Health, Trading Standards and Health & Safety. Ensure that the premises are kept clean and tidy and conform to relevant Health & Safety legislation. Promote the work of Dove Cottage Day Hospice Attend relevant training courses as and when requested Any other duties which may be reasonably expected of the post-holder in order to enhance the efficient running of the charity shop.
