Since 1947, the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod (LIME) has welcomed performers and audiences from across the world to celebrate peace, friendship, and cultural understanding through music and dance. As a registered charity, LIME relies on strong governance, committed volunteers, and responsible financial stewardship to sustain its unique international festival and year-round community work.

Honorary Treasurer – Role Overview

The Honorary Treasurer is a key member of the Board of Trustees, providing strategic financial leadership and ensuring the charity’s resources are managed responsibly, transparently, and in line with its charitable objectives. The role supports both the long‑term sustainability of the organisation and the successful delivery of the annual Eisteddfod.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Leadership

  • Present clear, accessible financial reports to the Board.
  • Lead the preparation and monitoring of annual budgets.
  • Oversee cashflow, reserves, and investment management.
  • Ensure financial decisions support the charity’s strategic aims.

2. Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with charity law, financial regulations, and reporting requirements.
  • Oversee preparation of the Annual Report and Accounts.
  • Liaise with the independent examiner or auditors.
  • Ensure robust financial controls and risk management processes.

3. Committee & Board Engagement

  • Chair the Finance Committee and report its work to the Board.
  • Support trustees in understanding financial information.
  • Act as a counter signatory on payments and funding applications.

4. Strategic Contribution

  • Advise the trustees on long term financial planning, fundraising and sustainability.
  • Help trustees develop and execute a medium to long term plan for securing the finances of the Eisteddfod
  • Provide financial insight on major projects, partnerships, and funding bids.
  • Support income diversification and cost management strategies.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Professional experience in finance, accounting, audit, or financial management.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate financial information clearly.
  • Understanding of budgeting, financial controls, and risk management.
  • Integrity, sound judgement, and commitment to LIME’s values.
  • Willingness to work collaboratively with trustees, staff, and volunteers.

Desirable

  • Experience in charity fundraising and income generation
  • Knowledge of investment management or audit processes.
  • Familiarity with arts, events, or volunteer led organisations.

Time Commitment

  • Attendance at approximately 10-12 Board meetings per year.
  • Chairing Finance Committee meetings.
  • Additional time for reviewing financial information and supporting staff.
  • Attendance at the annual Eisteddfod is welcomed.
