Main Purpose of Job: We are looking for a motivated and energetic individual to deliver a series of 'Tier 1' healthy living courses to local adults with learning disabilities. These courses will incorporate evidence-based nutritional advice, basic cooking skills, and exercise. Each session will include personalised communication and support based upon the needs of a wide range of participants. The Healthy Living Coach will provide the information, resources and encouragement that will enable these individuals to make positive, lasting changes in their lifestyle. Responsibilities and Duties specific to this role 1. Support the Health Project Manager with the delivery and monitoring of the Healthy Living Project. 2. Deliver accessible health and wellbeing training sessions for adults with people with learning disabilities and/or autism in community venues across Wandsworth with a focus on cooking practice, nutrition, physical activity, and behaviour change. 1 of 3 3. Support the Health Project Manager with all administrative tasks to support the smooth delivery of the project by: o Liaising with stakeholders to collate data to monitor the impact of your work, and ensure it aligns with our contracts, local and national policies. o Evaluating the effectiveness of trainings by undertaking audits and surveys. o Review and adapt training to participants. o Contributing to report writing. o Support with other training and promotional activities on an ad hoc basis. 4. Promote Generate’s Health Training and easy read work. General Responsibilities 1. Be an active member of the Generate staff team. 2. Comply with all relevant Generate policies, procedures, and guidelines, including but not limited to Equal Opportunities, Health & Safety, Safeguarding, and Data Protection. 3. Represent Generate positively in a variety of situations and respond professionally to general enquiries. 4. Engage in ongoing training relevant to your role. 5. The post holder must be flexible in their availability to meet the needs of Generate and the training schedule. 6. Keep records and report on outcomes of your work. 7. Keep up-to-date with current issues and good practice in the field of learning disability. 8. Engage with support offered by colleagues and undertake training as required. 9. Undertake any other reasonable task relevant to the post that Generate requires. Person Specification Essential 1. Ability to travel to training locations: The post-holder will be required to work at any appropriate site within South London (and Wandsworth in particular), as necessary for the delivery of the functions of this role. 2. Experience of facilitating accessible sessions to support adults with learning disabilities in community venues. 3. Experience of using person-centred approaches with people with a learning disability and/or autism. 4. Experience working within a team, and ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues. 2 of 3 5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to adjust communication styles to different audiences from funders, partners, colleagues, to students with learning disabilities), and work in partnership with individuals and communities to improve health. 6. Good IT skills including fluent with Microsoft 365 and the Microsoft Apps (Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word, Planner, Outlook, etc.). 7. Ability to organise work and use your own initiative. 8. Evidence of continued learning and development and willingness to undertake further training. Desirable 1. Deep understanding of reasonable adjustments and accessibility within a learning environment. 2. Experience in health and wellbeing coaching. 3. Experience of delivering cooking/nutrition/physical activity sessions. 4. Knowledge about health inequalities for people with learning disabilities and people who are neurodivergent, and the challenges this group of people face in accessing healthcare. 5. Ability to plan, implement and review projects and work streams. 6. Experience of project monitoring and evaluation.
