About the Role

We’re recruiting a Health & Social Care Tutor to deliver high-quality Health and Social Care training and qualifications to Adult learners, supporting them to achieve their learning goals and progress into employment, apprenticeships, or further education. The successful candidate will provide engaging teaching, assessment, and learner support, ensuring all delivery meets awarding body and quality assurance requirements.

The role will involve monitoring learner progress, carrying out workplace and placement observations where applicable, and contributing to the continuous improvement of programme delivery.

Teaching and Learning

Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Health and Social Care lessons to learners at various levels.

Develop schemes of work, lesson plans, and learning resources that meet curriculum and awarding body requirements.

Differentiate learning activities to meet individual learner needs and learning styles.

Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

Promote learner engagement, attendance, and achievement.

Assessment and Quality Assurance

Assess learner work in accordance with awarding body requirements.

Provide timely, constructive, and developmental feedback to learners.

Maintain accurate learner records, assessment documentation, and progress tracking.

Support internal and external quality assurance activities.

Ensure compliance with awarding organisation standards and internal quality processes.

Placement and Employer Engagement

Conduct workplace and placement observations to assess learner competence and development.

Liaise with employers, placement providers, and stakeholders to support learner progress.

Monitor learner performance during placements and identify additional support requirements where necessary.

Build and maintain positive relationships with placement providers and employers.

Learner Support

Conduct initial assessments and identify learner support needs.

Provide pastoral support, guidance, and signposting where appropriate.

Support learners in developing employability, communication, and professional skills.

Promote equality, diversity, inclusion, safeguarding, and British Values throughout delivery.

General Responsibilities

Participate in team meetings, standardisation activities, and continuous professional development.

Qualifications

Relevant qualification in Health and Social Care (Level 3 or above) - essential

Teaching qualification (AET, CET, DET, PGCE, or equivalent) - essential

English and Maths qualifications at Level 2 or above - essential

Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) qualification - desirable

Assessor qualification (CAVA, A1, D32/D33, or equivalent) - desirable

Experience

Experience delivering Health and Social Care qualifications - essential

Experience assessing learner work and supporting achievement - essential

Experience working within the Health and Social Care sector - essential

Experience supporting learners with varying abilities and support needs - essential

Knowledge of safeguarding, Prevent, equality, diversity, and inclusion - essential
