About the School
Lord Scudamore Academy is a large, inclusive and culturally diverse primary school serving children aged 2–11. With over 500 pupils and a dedicated, experienced staff team, the school is a vibrant and ambitious community where every child is encouraged to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
Part of the supportive Herefordshire Marches Federation of Academies, the school benefits from strong collaboration, shared expertise and a collective commitment to excellence. Together, we are driven by ambition for every pupil and a culture rooted in kindness, respect and belonging.
Our community is forward-thinking and aspirational, proud of its heritage and excited about its future. This is a school where inclusion is not an aspiration but a lived reality, and where leadership has the power to shape lives.
The Role
We are seeking an exceptional Headteacher to lead the next stage of development for our school community. Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the Executive Team and Local Committee of Governors, you will provide inspirational, strategic leadership that sustains high standards while driving continued improvement.
You will shape and articulate a clear vision for the future, ensuring that the school’s ethos, curriculum and systems enable every pupil to flourish. The role requires a leader who can balance ambition with sustainability — someone who can strengthen teaching and learning, oversee curriculum development, ensure effective safeguarding and operational systems, and manage resources with integrity and accountability.
As Headteacher, you will foster a culture of professionalism and high expectations, champion inclusive practice, and build strong partnerships with families, governors and the wider Trust. Your leadership will empower staff, nurture talent and ensure that the school remains a place where children experience a rich, positive and ambitious education.
What We’re Looking For
- Qualified Teacher Status and a relevant degree
- NPQH or substantial recent Headship/Head of School experience
- A proven track record of successful senior leadership in a school setting
- Strong understanding of curriculum development and evidence-informed teaching
- Demonstrable experience of leading school improvement and self-evaluation
- Secure knowledge of school finance and resource management
- Ability to analyse and use data to drive improvement
- A visible, values-driven leader who models integrity, resilience and professionalism
- A strong commitment to inclusion, equality and high expectations for all pupils
- The ability to inspire, develop and empower staff through coaching and collaboration
Why Join Us
This is a rare opportunity to lead a thriving, ambitious primary school within a close-knit and collaborative Trust. You will be part of a leadership network that values professional growth, shared expertise and collective responsibility.
The Trust is committed to being an employer of choice, providing opportunities not only to shape the future of one school, but also to influence wider Trust strategy and contribute to system-wide improvement.
What We Offer
- Excellent opportunities to innovate and shape curriculum and assessment in collaboration with Trust partners
- Ongoing professional development within the Trust and with recognised external providers
- Opportunities to influence wider Trust strategy and grow your leadership career
- Access to a complimentary wellbeing services app including 24/7 GP service, counselling, physiotherapy and nutrition advice
