Headteacher vacancy at one of Nottingham City’s most popular primary schools

Community is at the heart of all that we do at Carrington, one of the most popular primary schools in Nottingham. We are excited to announce the vacancy for headteacher.

The Governors of Carrington Primary & Nursery School are looking to appoint a motivated and inspirational leader, who will continue to build upon our achievements and uphold the values of our inclusive school.

Located in Carrington in the City of Nottingham, we are a locally maintained, open and inclusive school, rated good by Ofsted (June 2024). Carrington are active members of the Nottingham Schools Trust; a collaborative partnership focusing on improving education for the children of Nottingham.

We are proud to provide a nurturing, safe and vibrant environment that adopts a love of learning, inquisitiveness and enables every child to become the best they can be. We are here to support our children to learn the skills they need to become successful. We are driven by our ‘golden threads’ of democracy, diversity and sustainability and we aim for our children to leave us fully equipped to move on with their educational journey. Respectful, supportive relationships and a tight knit community are at the heart of all that we do: we value every member of the school community equally.

We are looking for a Head Teacher who can demonstrate:

  • They believe in the important position a school has in a local community and can build and maintain strong positive relationships with that community
  • They have a strong commitment to the principles of inclusion, equality of opportunity & diversity
  • They can lead the school with our values front and centre while continuing our progression and responding to the challenges within the sector
  • They have a proven track record in school leadership
  • They can focus on quality of education but also encourage a positive environment which enables learning
  • They know how to balance the needs of all stakeholders
  • They recognise the progress and achievements that the school has already made and is innovative and creative in developing a clear vision
  • They are keen and able to support both the professional development and the work life balance of all school staff
  • They have a thorough understanding of teaching in EYFS, KS1 and KS2

Our school can offer you:

  • Amazing children to work with
  • A warm, purposeful and happy environment
  • A loyal, hardworking and experienced team of staff focused on continuous improvement
  • A committed, proactive and experienced Governing Body
  • A supportive local family of schools and strong links with Nottingham Schools Trust
  • A commitment to your professional development and personal well-being.

If you are a dynamic and motivated leader and share our commitments, we would love to hear from you.

Visits to the school are highly encouraged and warmly welcomed prior to application. It is requested that tours take place in the weeks commencing 2nd and 9th of March. Please contact the School Business Manager, Lucy Cogdon, for more information and to book a tour.

Lucy Cogdon can also put you in touch with our Chair of Governors, if you have any further queries or questions.
