It provides some 1 million consultations for patients in the UK every working day and deals with 86% of the health problems experienced by the UK population.
About the role
The College is seeking a highly experienced and dynamic professional to step into a pivotal leadership role, providing inspirational and strategic leadership to the RCGP Wales & Republic of Ireland team, and cultivating a 'can do' culture, that recognises, supports and drives high performance.
You will develop and implement the strategic and operational business of the College in Wales & RoI in line with the RCGP Strategic Plan and act as the senior advisor on matters relating to both RCGP Wales & RoI and the Devolved Nations team where appropriate, to the Chair of Council, other Officers and the Executive Management Team.
You will ensure that RCGP Wales continues to be the voice of general practice, influencing the agenda and shaping the debate on healthcare policy in Wales working closely with colleagues to ensure appropriate synergy across the UK.
Working strategically with the Heads of Membership and Head of CPD you will ensure a comprehensive, locally appropriate and equitable offer of member engagement and CPD opportunities for members in Wales & RoI.
There will be an informal drop-in session on Wednesday 01 April where you can find out more about the role from the current post holder. Please email wales@rcgp.org.uk to register your interest.
About you
You should be able to demonstrate a strong track record of senior-level leadership and management, including substantial experience in building and maintaining relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. You will also bring proven expertise in leading change initiatives along with comprehensive experience of strategic operations and business planning and delivery.
You will be a motivational and inspirational leader with exceptional communication and relationship‑building skills, be able to demonstrate creative and imaginative thinking with a strong focus on practical solutions and have a good knowledge of the political system, policy landscapes and healthcare system in Wales.
You will need to be a self-starter, able to work flexibly and on your own initiative, with excellent time management and planning skills.
A flexible approach to working hours is necessary as there may be some evening meetings in various locations around Wales.
