These are exciting times for the charity, and we now have an excellent opportunity for a proactive, self-motivated and professional individual, with outstanding leadership, decision making and interpersonal skills to join our Income Generation Team. As Head of Income Generation, you will provide strategic leadership for Income Generation in Ireland, leading and developing the team to deliver sustainable growth across donated and visitor income streams in line with the Income Generation Strategy. Within this multifunctional and rewarding role, you will drive an integrated, insight-led approach to fundraising, marketing and visitor engagement that strengthens supporter relationships, enhances lifetime value and raises the profile of The Donkey Sanctuary Ireland nationally.
About you:
- Demonstrable experience of leading at a strategic senior leadership level within an individual giving or fundraising team of a similar size.
- Substantial individual giving fundraising experience (regular giving and one-off donations).
- Extensive experience of using direct marketing techniques and approaches to build long-term supporter relationships.
- Outstanding communication and negotiation skills.
- An excellent standard of written English which includes copywriting for different audiences.
- Experience of external agency management to deliver high quality work on time and on budget.
- Strong organisational skills and able to plan and manage a variety of simultaneous projects to tight deadlines.
About the role:
Your principal duties and responsibilities will include –
- Owning, evaluating and evolving the Income Generation Strategy for Fundraising and Visitor Engagement, delivering a complex multichannel, multiproduct acquisition and supporter development strategy.
- Proactively identifying, testing and scaling new fundraising growth opportunities, responding to market trends and supporter behaviour, using a lifetime value (LTV) principle to optimise performance.
- Overseeing supporter journeys, accounting for channel, audience variance and insight, and applying compelling creative through structured test-and-learn frameworks.
- Championing excellent supporter and visitor experience across all touchpoints, including on-site visitor engagement and fundraising interactions, ensuring all activity is ethical, engaging and compliant.
- Providing leadership to and developing the Income Generation team, setting clear KPIs and SMART objectives linked to the strategic plan to coach, mentor and upskill team members.
- Leading the creation, management and reporting of income generation budgets, forecasts, targets and KPIs, working closely with Finance (Ireland), the Director of Income Generation, UK Income Senior Team and Country Director (Ireland).
- Putting in place robust business planning, resourcing and performance evaluation frameworks to track financial achievement, analyse fundraising data and trends, diagnose under performance, and drive continuous improvement and strategic outcomes.
What we offer:
Based at The Donkey Sanctuary Ireland, Knockardbane, Liscarroll this is a full-time, permanent contract working 39 hours per week. This is a hybrid working position, combining onsite and home working under our guiding principles for such roles. The working pattern and requirement for site attendance be agreed between the line manager and post-holder, currently anticipated to be once every two weeks.
