We're searching for maternity cover for our Head of Income and Engagement. Join The Lullaby Trust and contribute to our mission to keep babies’ safe and provide vital support to bereaved families.

  • Location:London/Hybrid
  • Salary:c.£65,000
  • Closing date:Rolling applications

The Lullaby Trust is a leading UK charity dedicated to keeping babies safe and providing vital support to families affected by the sudden or unexpected death of a baby or young child.

We deliver trusted, evidence‑based information on safer sleep and baby safety, empowering parents, carers and health professionals with clear guidance designed to reduce the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and other causes of unexpected infant loss. We fund research to better understand and prevent these tragedies, contributing to significant reductions in SIDS rates since the early 1990s.

In addition, we offer specialist bereavement services, creating a compassionate and supportive space for around 1,000 families each year as they navigate unimaginable loss. Through training thousands of professionals annually and reaching millions of families with its safer sleep advice, we continue to champion awareness, drive change and campaign tirelessly to ensure that no baby dies suddenly and unexpectedly.

This is an exciting time for The Lullaby Trust and this role will guide our Fundraising and Engagement and collaborate with other SLT colleagues through a period of positive change for us.

As an experienced senior leader with a proven track record of success in multiple income streams, you will be responsible for driving the charity’s income generation, marketing, engagement and brand strategy forward at an exciting time of growth and change for The Lullaby Trust.

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the post‑holder will work collaboratively across the organisation to ensure fundraising, marketing and engagement activities align with the charity’s mission and strategic priorities. The SLT will support the development of our upcoming organisational strategy and we are seeking a strategic and entrepreneurial leader in income generation and engagement to contribute meaningfully to this vital project.

Key responsibilities over the next 12 months:

  • Integrate our marketing as well as new fundraising income streams into Scotland (a new area of work for us), tailoring communications to a Scottish audience.
  • Oversee fundraising and grow income by focusing on existing income streams.
  • Lead the strategy and support colleagues to implement the engagement, marketing and brand strategy.
  • Support the organisational design process and implement recommendations for the team by working with the SLT.
  • Provide strong leadership in a period of change.
  • Strengthen our relationships with supporters and partners.
  • Lead a multi-disciplinary team of 12 to deliver ambitious income targets, grow and diversify income streams.

We are looking for a strategic leader with a strong background in fundraising. You will have experience of leading people through change and experience across income streams, ideally with a focus on trusts, corporate or philanthropy.

Person Specification:

  • Senior management experience in commercial marketing and professional fundraising at the £1.5M–£2M+ level.
  • Proven leadership experience, including managing and developing teams.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering integrated fundraising and marketing strategies.
  • Strong budget management and financial oversight.
  • Proficient in using charity CRM systems.
  • Skilled in leading, motivating and developing multidisciplinary teams of staff and volunteers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strategic and solutions‑focused thinker.
  • Strong organisational and planning abilities.

We are really pleased that you are interested in working with us here at The Lullaby Trust. Let us tell you more about our organisation.

It is a key time to join the charity and help us continue saving babies’ lives and supporting bereaved families. The charity has been hugely successful, but the work is far from done.
