Head of Economics & Business Studies
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Head of Department for Economics and Business Studies to lead our academic team at Bloxham School. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the teaching and learning of Business and Economics at KS4 and KS5 and ensuring the delivery of a high-quality curriculum that meets the needs and aspirations of all students. As Head of Department, you will provide leadership and support to your team, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment, while also contributing to the broader academic and pastoral life of the school.
You will be an excellent business and economics teacher who has demonstrated that your students make excellent progress. We would also expect you to be someone who forms effective relationships with students, parents and colleagues and has the skills and drive to ensure our students receive the best possible learning opportunities. The successful candidate will be passionate about teaching and learning and will be able to model best practice to all colleagues in the department.
Requirements:
- Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject
- Experience in teaching relevant subjects at KS4 and KS5.
- A minimum of 3 years’ teaching experience
- Experience of successful leadership, including managing operations whilst driving a strategic vision.
- Confident user of IT for the enhancement of lesson delivery and student learning for admin, data analysis etc.
- High level of communication skills and ability to work with colleagues as part of a team

Working Arrangements:
- Full time
- Bloxham School is a thriving school with a warm and friendly staff community.
- Our school day starts at 8.30 am and finishes at 6pm Monday to Friday.
- Academic lessons end at 3.30pm after which our staff contribute to broader curricular activities, academic drop-ins and pastoral meetings.
- Saturday lessons are from 8.30am -12.00.
- The pastoral service we offer at Bloxham School matters hugely to us and therefore all teachers are tutors. If you are a senior tutor, you will be expected to carry out one evening duty per week in their boarding house from 6.45-10.00pm and if a junior tutor, once a fortnight from 6pm-9pm.
