This is a rare opportunity to work at the heart of the Chief Executive Office—turning strategy into action, keeping our biggest priorities on track, and ensuring the Chief Executive is supported, visible and impactful across our family of museums.
At a glance: Permanent (Grade H) • 35 hours per week • Based at National Museum Cardiff with travel across Wales • Office-based with scope for hybrid working.
What you’ll do
Be the Chief Executive’s strategic right hand—helping structure time, focus and follow-through across the Senior Executive Team.
Track delivery of the Business Plan and impact framework, spotting emerging issues early and bringing clear options and recommendations.
Shape agendas and forward plans for SET and Leadership Forum—making sure the right strategic issues get the attention they need.
Bring clarity through insight: collate, analyse and present performance information and dashboards to support prioritisation and decision-making.
Support visible leadership—working with the CE’s Executive Assistant to plan site visits, time with direct reports and “walking the floor”.
Create high-quality reports, briefings and presentations for executive and Board audiences, and respond to urgent internal/external queries.
Strengthen stakeholder engagement—prioritising partners, preparing comprehensive briefs, and ensuring Amgueddfa Cymru is represented at key events.
What you’ll bringProven experience (or a professional qualification) in business administration, management, or a related field.
A project/programme mindset and experience driving organisational priorities—ideally in a cultural, public, or not-for-profit setting.
Confidence working with senior executives and leadership groups, with discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive and urgent matters.
Excellent relationship-building and influencing skills, and the resilience to stay clear-thinking under pressure.
Strong analytical ability—monitoring delivery, identifying trends, and translating data into succinct insight for action.
Outstanding written and verbal communication, including drafting briefings and reports for executive and Board audiences.
Desirable: ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh.
