The Children’s Society has been helping children and young people in this country for over 140 years. We deliver essential local services that provide safe, trusted support to children and young people during times of significant need.

Our Social Impact domain is built on shared values, diverse perspectives, and a flexible, people‑first approach. We work as one team, building strong relationships across the organisation to drive meaningful change for children and young people. With trust, wellbeing, and collaboration at the heart of how we work, you’ll join a culture that supports you to make a real and lasting difference, helping us move closer to our mission of improving the lives of children and young people. The role :

This role sits within our National Mobilisation team (individual giving), which works to raise awareness of The Children’s Society, address public opinions of the challenges young people face and engage and inspire audiences to support our mission - through donating, fundraising, campaigning and volunteering.  Your role is critical to attracting new supporters at scale through emotionally compelling campaigns that build long-term value – with a focus on driving regular support.
As our Head of Attraction & Public Engagement, you’ll be responsible for inspiring a new generation of supporters to join The Children’s Society who are just as passionate about positively transforming young people’s lives as you are.
We’re  looking for a dynamic leader, with multi-channel direct marketing experience, who will help shape our attraction (acquisition)  approach to grow our national supporter base. You’ll drive growth in both the number and value of our supporters, including cash and regular givers, ensuring every supporter feels valued and connected to our mission and goals. You’ll be instrumental in building lasting relationships, developing bold campaigns, and steering the future of supporter engagement at The Children’s Society. About You :

You’re an excellent leader who encourages people to try new things. With natural strategic flair and a track-record in delivering excellence in direct marketing campaigns, you’ll help shape our attraction portfolio, supporter journeys and communications to engage new supporters across the full range of media and channels (DRTV, digital, mail, telephone, press, D2D). You’ll build on audience insight, and use your knowledge of audience motivations to develop and innovate new ways for supporters to donate and get involved. You’ll be brave and ambitious – helping to embed a test and learn, performance driven culture.

You’ll work alongside some wonderful talented people who will inspire and motivate you every day. You’ll be brave, take risks and aim to exceed expectations; encouraging colleagues to do the same in our mission to improve youth wellbeing. To be successful in this role, you'll have:

  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams with fantastic coaching, nurturing, and leadership skills
  • Developed and implemented audience acquisition and engagement strategies that drive growth in supporters numbers and values, delivering long-term ROI and lifetime value
  • Experience in planning, managing, and delivering a portfolio of multi-channel direct response campaigns and supporter journeys, with effective agency and supplier relationship management
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to apply data insights to optimise supporter experiences and drive innovation
  • In-depth knowledge of digital engagement tools, CRM systems, and data flow optimisation to support integrated supporter journeys and fundraising strategies
  • Strong financial modelling and complex budgeting experience, aligning resources to deliver strategic priorities effectively
  • Sound knowledge of marketing and fundraising regulations, driving compliance best practice.
