Brentwood Senior School is an academically selective HMC co-educational independent school with small class sizes and a happy, ambitious and supportive staff team. It is part of Brentwood School, a 3-18 HMC school of 1900 pupils, just 35 minutes from London Liverpool Street.

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding Head of Athletics and Teacher of PE on a one-year contract. This middle leadership role offers an exciting opportunity to shape and deliver a clear vision for athletics across a thriving whole-school programme. The successful candidate will lead on the delivery of Athletics within Games afternoons, oversee a busy fixture calendar, and coordinate a dynamic co-curricular training provision, ensuring alignment with the School’s ambitious sporting strategy.

Alongside leadership responsibilities, the role involves teaching Academic PE, including GCSE and A Level, as well as delivering high-quality Games lessons. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic and qualified graduate with the ability to coach a range of athletics disciplines, supporting both participation and performance. Athletics is a flagship sport at Brentwood School, with excellent facilities, strong pupil engagement, and a proud record of competitive success at regional and national level.

The PE department promotes both inclusivity and excellence through a broad and well-resourced programme, supported by outstanding facilities including a Tartan athletics track and extensive sports centre.
