| Job Overview | The Head of 3D Design will lead the strategic development, high-quality delivery, and day-to-day management of 3D Design across Years 7–11. The post holder will champion creativity, innovation, and technical skill development, ensuring pupils experience an inspiring curriculum that builds confidence in design thinking, materials, modelling, and digital fabrication. |
| The role includes curriculum leadership, teaching excellence, staff development, resource management, and ensuring the safe, effective operation of specialist equipment and learning spaces. | |
| Duties and Responsibilities: | Curriculum Leadership |
| Lead curriculum planning for 3D Design across KS3–KS4, ensuring progression, challenge, and creativity. | |
| Develop schemes of learning that integrate traditional and contemporary 3D | |
| practices, including graphics, architecture, ceramics, sculpture and jewellery making. Ensure assessment practices are robust, fair, and aligned with whole-school policy. | |
| Monitor and evaluate teaching quality, pupil progress, and curriculum impact. | |
| Teaching & Learning | |
| Deliver consistently high-quality lessons that inspire pupils and promote excellent | |
| outcomes. Model exemplary practice in pedagogy, behaviour management, and subject | |
| expertise. | |
| Support colleagues in developing their teaching through coaching, mentoring, and shared planning. | |
| Ensure inclusive practice that meets the needs of al learners. | |
| Leadership & Management | |
| Oversee the organisation and maintenance of specialist rooms, tools, and equipment. | |
| Manage departmental budgets, ordering, and resource allocation. | |
| Lead departmental meetings and contribute to whole-school initiatives. | |
| Coordinate internal and external moderation, exhibitions, and enrichment | |
| opportunities. |
