Rydal Penrhos School is seeking a reliable GroundsPerson to assist in the provision of the highest
standards of maintenance of all outdoor sports playing surfaces, school grounds and gardens across
the School estate.  Reporting to the Senior GroundsPerson you will work in a small team of grounds,
garden and estates staff to ensure the cost-effective delivery of services and end user satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

•  To assist in the preparation and maintenance of all sports (Football, Rugby, Hockey, Cricket,
Tennis  and  Athletics)  over  a  combination  of  surfaces  to  include  Grass,  artificial  and  sports
tarmac to the highest possible standards.

•  To assist in the preparation and maintenance of all garden and amenity areas (lawns, planted

areas, hedges, etc.) to the highest possible standards

•  The use of tractor mounted equipment.

•  The use of pedestrian and ride on cylinder, rotary mowers, strimmers, leaf blowers and hedge

trimmers.

•  Assist with the initial and over-mark line marking

•  Assisting with the maintenance of lawns, gardens, trees, hedges and paths, including leaf

collection and spraying

•  Working as part of the Estates team maintaining grounds, gardens and sports related

buildings and facilities

•  To carry out gritting, salt spreading and snow clearing around the school site

•  To work in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act and to ensure Safe Systems of

Work

•  Providing grounds staff support to matches/fixtures when required

•  To work under the direction of the Estates Manager and Senior GroundsPerson

•  To ensure resources and materials are used cost effectively with the minimum of waste.

•  To work safely at all times and to comply with H&S requirements and monitor/maintain safe

working conditions in the Estates Grounds Gardens

•  To be prepared to receive training as part of ongoing professional development.

•  To  alert  Estates  Manager  to  any  observed  Health  &  Safety  issues  or  urgent  maintenance

requirements.

•  Any other duties which may arise during the course of work and as authorised by the Estates
Manager and  undertake  such other duties which are  reasonably required with the general
level of responsibility for this role

•  To establish effective working relationships with all members of the Rydal Penrhos

community (particularly the Schools Sports Department) and set a good example through
personal presentation and professional conduct

•  To communicate and co-operate with specialists from outside agencies and external

contractors
