Thisis an exciting opportunity for those who are considering a career in education or looking to gainvaluable experience prior to teacher training.The role will involve assisting the staff and pupils in lessons and with duties. Ideal candidates willbe able to offer effective support in core subjects, as well as provide teaching cover for staffabsence across the curriculum. The successful applicant will have a desire to be fully engaged inthe boarding provision, offering activities, supervision and pastoral care. Candidates should havean enthusiasm for the co-curricular, whether this is Art, DT, Drama, Music or Sport and will be anambassador for this area of school life.Graduate Tutors are responsible to the Deputy Heads, although day to day tasks will be set by avariety staff and departments. In exceptional circumstances, this role may include the teaching ofspecific classes and subjects, at the Head’s discretion. Upon completion of their year as a GraduateTutor, there may be an opportunity for the successful candidate to undertake Initial TeacherTraining at Cheam, subject to conditions and vacancies. Cheam operates fromMonday to Saturday and our teachers work across all six days with one day being a half day. Holidays, Days Off and BenefitsSchool holidays are usually three weeks at Christmas, three weeks at Easter, eight weeks in thesummer, one week for February and May half terms and two weeks for October half term.
