What we’re looking for

Lloyd's Register Marine and Offshore provide a wide range of services to industry world-wide involving design verification, independent analysis and consultancy activities in various disciplines, including those of naval architecture, structures, pipelines, geotechnics, safety and mechanical engineering.

We are looking to recruit a Graduate structural engineer to join our Global Fixed Structures Team. This team has substantial expertise in providing independent assurance for design and operational aspects of offshore and onshore structures for a range of industries including the renewable and oil and gas sectors.

This position is based in our Aberdeen office in Scotland. Applicants must hold permanent residency status in the UK.

The role

  • To carry out structural assessments and review of design documentation against defined specifications / scope that includes budget constraints and contractual requirements.
  • To produce a report / certificate / document to an agreed format and within an agreed timescale.
  • Data collection, analysis, and presentation.
  • Create and maintain technical file systems. Maintain computer databases. Provide administrative assistance as required.
  • To communicate customer feedback.
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards.
  • To make suggestions to improve service delivery effectiveness through changes to processes or work scope such that it leads to a reduction in appraisal effort (where applicable).
  • To pursue Continuous Professional Development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.

What you bring

  • A BEng or MEng degree or equivalent from an organisation recognised by Lloyd’s Register reputed within the field of structural engineering.
  • Proficiency in the English Language commensurate with the work, including report writing and preparation of technical reports.
  • Sound knowledge of structural engineering design principles necessary for the design and analysis of steel or concrete structures.
  • Knowledge and understanding of offshore structures would be considered as an advantage.
  • Any previous design experience with relevant industry Codes and Standards would be considered as an advantage.
