Graduate Music Assistant

For September 2026 until July 2027
(Currently) £20,924 per annum over a period of 11 months

Graduate Music Assistants are advanced performers who provide advice and coaching for our exceptional young musicians, and help with the running of the Music and Expressive Arts departments. Each role can be tailored to individual skills and future aspirations of the candidate. The ability to assist with other musical disciplines, including piano accompaniment, theory, aural and accompaniment is also an asset, and we also welcome applicants with experience in theatrical work or other collaborations within the expressive arts. Applicants should be prepared to work flexible hours, approximately 44 hours per week, term time plus 1 additional week for INSET (34 weeks per annum).

Applications should include a short video (maximum 5 minutes) of a performance on their first instrument; this can be with or without accompaniment.

Accommodation is available on a first come first served basis. Where this is the case, a charge (£450 per month from September 2026) is made and this is deducted from the monthly salary.

Suitable candidates may be interviewed before the closing date and Wells Cathedral School reserves the rights to withdraw the position if an early appointment is made. Applicants are therefore encouraged to apply early.

Closing date: Wednesday 25 February 2026, at 12 noon

Interviews are scheduled to take place on Wednesday 4 March and Thursday 5 March 2026
