Governor - AI & Digital Innovation The Board of Governors of Aldwickbury School is seeking to elect an additional Governor with expertise in AI and Digital Innovation. This is a voluntary role. Membership of the Board involves attendance at termly full Board meetings and participation in termly meetings of relevant sub-committees. The successful candidate would join the Education and Marketing sub-committees. Aldwickbury benefits from a well-established, highly skilled and supportive Governing Body, working in close partnership with the Head and Senior Leadership Team to ensure the school’s continued success, stability and strategic development within a changing educational landscape. The Role of the Board The Board provides strategic oversight to ensure: • Full regulatory and statutory compliance • Financial and organisational stability within the independent school sector • Delivery of the School Development Plan • Sustained educational excellence, with the ambition to remain the leading prep school in the country All governors act at a governance and strategic level. Purpose of the Role A Governor with AI & Digital Innovation expertise would provide strategic oversight and support, regarding the impact of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies on teaching, learning, safeguarding, operations and future school readiness. The role is advisory and strategic, and would assist the Education and Marketing committees in making informed, forward-looking decisions in a rapidly evolving digital and educational environment. Key Contributions Strategic Insight • Provide analysis of the implications of AI for prep school education • Advise on future skills development and digital literacy for pupils • Support the Board in understanding both opportunities and risks associated with AI in teaching, learning and assessment 1 Policy & Governance • Contribute to the development and review of School policies relating to AI use by staff and pupils • Advise on infrastructure and systems considerations at a governance level (not technical implementation) • Offer insight into professional development needs in digital and AI literacy Development & Marketing • Support the school’s long-term sustainability by advising the school on building strong relationships with parents, alumni, former parents, governors and friends of the school • Provide strategic input into philanthropic and development initiatives that enhance bursaries, facilities and long-term sustainability Collective Responsibilities of All Governors All Governors share collective responsibility to: • Contribute to the strategic leadership of the school • Support and constructively challenge the Head and Senior Leadership Team • Ensure the School operates within its charitable objectives, regulatory framework and governance best practice • Safeguard the School’s long-term educational, financial and reputational sustainability • Act at all times in the best interests of the school Safeguarding The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All Governors are expected to share this commitment and will be required to undertake appropriate safeguarding training and checks. Term of Office Governors are appointed for a 3-year renewable term.
