Job purpose
Responsible for managing all aspects of MAP’s payroll function ensuring full compliance with relevant national and international legislation regarding salaries, income tax, pensions, national insurance and equivalent schemes (UK and overseas) requiring completeness and accuracy in all aspects to meet organisational needs. Lead on specific cross-organisational projects (e.g. salary sacrifice schemes, pensions auto-enrolment).

Job purpose

Responsible for managing all aspects of MAP’s payroll function ensuring full compliance with relevant national and international legislation regarding salaries, income tax, pensions, national insurance and equivalent schemes (UK and overseas) requiring completeness and accuracy in all aspects to meet organisational needs. Lead on specific cross-organisational projects (e.g. salary sacrifice schemes, pensions auto-enrolment).

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee accurate and timely end-to-end payroll processing across all locations.
  • Serve as the primary contact for employee payroll queries.
  • Ensure payroll compliance with local tax laws and statutory requirements across all jurisdictions.
  • Ensure accurate and timely payments to tax authorities and external partners.
  • Review and analyse payroll procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies.
  • Lead and support the implementation of new payroll systems and integration platforms to ensure monthly payment for all MAP employees are accurate, on time, in compliance with all local (i.e. both UK and non-UK) legislation on tax and other deductions, and in accordance with MAP employment policies and procedures
  • Drive continuous improvement of payroll processes and system enhancements.
  • Ensure those involved in payroll follow standardised procedures and best practices.
  • Monthly payroll reports prepared in a timely manner to support the payroll sign off process with a commitment to high quality work.
  • Collaborate with the P&C Officers to ensure payroll is running effectively
  • Pension schemes are managed efficiently and effectively, ensuring that all statutory and administrative deadlines are met and aligned with organisational values and goals.
  • Salary sacrifice and other benefit schemes are created and maintained according to HMRC regulations, local laws, and all statutory requirements are met
  • Provide relevant payroll information for the Annual Finance Audit

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Professional payroll qualification (CIPP or equivalent)

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of managing the payroll operation including payroll processes, tax regulations, GDPR, benefit, and statutory requirement knowledge.
  • Good understanding of payroll compliance, rules, and legislations in a multi-country environment, preferably experience of working with oPT and Lebanon.
  • Hands-on experience with payroll systems and HRIS integrations.
  • Knowledge of global payroll compliance, tax regulations, and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Proven track record in managing a highly effective payroll
  • Advanced knowledge of and expertise in HMRC regulations and local tax laws
  • Pensions administration experience and expertise
  • Expertise in designing, interpreting, running and reviewing relevant reports for both management information purposes and statutory requirements

Skills

  • Excellent attention to detail, with a high degree of accuracy in processing payroll data.
  • Advanced technical skills to the level required to be the system administrator for the computerised payroll system.
  • High developed communication skills to advise and guide on technical issues and queries.
  • Experience working for a not-for-profit organisation.
