The Women’s Football Operations & Girls’ Community Development Lead is a joint role between Cardiff City Football Club and Cardiff City Community Foundation. The post holder will lead the growth of women’s and girls’ football by connecting community participation with the club’s player pathway and performance environment. The role will deliver high-quality community programmes, strengthen relationships across grassroots football, and provide operational and administrative support to the club’s women’s programme. It ensures a clear, structured pathway from first engagement through to club representation, while supporting the professional and compliant delivery of all activities.

- Track progression of participants from community programmes into grassroots clubs and Cardiff City pathway teams.
- Contribute to increasing participation levels in girls’ football across priority communities.
- Support the growth in attendance and engagement at women’s fixtures through community activation.
Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion across all aspects of delivery.
Workforce
- Deliver and support high-quality coaching sessions across community programmes and Soccer Schools.
- Support the coordination of staff and volunteers on matchdays and during programme delivery.
- Contribute to the development of workforce knowledge in girls’ football and inclusive practice.
Maintain a visible presence across the organisation, ensuring alignment of standards and expectations.
Delivery
Deliver girls’ football programmes including:
- Girls Only Kicks
- Premier League Primary Stars
- Premier League Inspires
- Soccer Schools
- Ensure delivery is targeted within priority geographic areas.
- Plan and deliver engaging sessions tailored to participant needs.
- Lead matchday activation activities pre-match and during fixtures.
- Support the design and development of new girls’ football opportunities.
- Support the effective use and management of equipment and resources.
- Contribute to maximising income through Soccer Schools and programme delivery.
- Ensure efficient planning of sessions, travel, and operational activity.
- Support the promotion of programmes to increase participation and revenue opportunities.
- Act as a key point of contact for participants, parents, partners, and stakeholders.
- Build and maintain relationships with:

- Grassroots football clubs
- Support the development of reports, case studies, and promotional content.
- Represent the Foundation professionally at meetings and events.
- Ensure all activity is delivered in line with safeguarding policies and best practice.

Key Responsibilities – Cardiff City Football Club
· Ensure the smooth and professional running of the women’s and girls’ programme by delivering high‑quality logistical, operational, and administrative support that enables coaches and players to focus on performance and development.
· Drive the growth and visibility of women’s and girls’ football across the region by delivering high‑quality operational support and community‑focused engagement.
· Strengthen the club’s player pathway by ensuring seamless links between grassroots participation, community programmes, and the club’s performance environment.
· Contribute to increased matchday attendance, enhanced commercial opportunities, and a more sustainable women’s football programme.
· Support the creation of a positive, inclusive football culture that encourages long‑term participation and talent development for girls and young women.
· Work collaboratively with coaching staff, medical teams, analysts, and club operations to ensure the women’s and girls’ programme runs efficiently.
· Build strong relationships with grassroots coaches, school staff, and community leaders to support talent identification and participation growth.
· Represent the club professionally at training sessions, fixtures, community events, and partnership meetings.
· Support volunteers and part‑time staff on matchdays and at events, ensuring they are briefed, supported, and aligned with club standards.
- Coordinate scheduling, equipment provision, training arrangements, and facility bookings for the women’s and girls’ programme.
- Oversee logistics for away fixtures, including travel, accommodation, catering, and matchday requirements.
- Maintain accurate administrative records, including player registrations, documentation, medical compliance, safeguarding checks, and league submissions.
- Attend and support at least one weekly evening training session.
- Support the delivery of all pre‑match, in‑match, and post‑match operations in line with competition regulations and club expectations.
- Attend Women’s Home Matchdays (approx. 13 per season).
- Lead or support pre‑match engagement activities focused on girls’ participation, in collaboration with the Community Foundation.
- Support the planning and delivery of trials, festivals, workshops, and player engagement events.
- Support the monitoring of programme‑related expenditure, including travel, equipment, and event delivery costs.
- Work with commercial teams to identify sponsorship, partnership, and revenue‑generating opportunities linked to the women’s programme.
- Ensure value for money in operational decisions, maintaining efficient use of club resources.
- Assist in preparing financial information or reports related to programme activities when required.
- Liaise with marketing and communications teams to promote women’s fixtures, events, and pathway opportunities.
- Provide accurate information, schedules, and updates to internal departments to ensure consistent messaging.
- Support the creation of content that highlights player stories, pathway successes, and community engagement.
- Act as a point of contact for grassroots clubs, schools, and community partners, ensuring timely and professional communication.
- Ensure all activity is delivered in line with safeguarding policies and best practice.
- Maintain up‑to‑date safeguarding documentation, including DBS checks, consent forms, and incident reporting.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for all participants, staff, and volunteers.
- Ensure all operational activity aligns with league regulations, FAW requirements, and club policies.
